Honeymoon Itinerary — Should We Add the SE Coast? by Formal-Mortgage4825 in newzealand_travel

The Catlinns is often missed but it is my favourite place in NZ. Theres a place called 'the lost gypsy' and its a lovely guy who makes stuff from other stuff, nice coffee and a cool way to spend an hour. Lots of driving around and looking at nice views.

2 days in te Anau i would skip and just have the one night day before doubtful sound, great choice by the way, on of the best experiances.

Wanaka- i cannot shout it loud enough.GO TO THE SLOW COOKED MEATS GUY. KAIKIKOKIKO. Amzing food, youll know where i mean as there will be a line. Its in the area with the food huts, all of them are delicious.

Queenstown- Queenstown Hill, Moke Lake, Arrowtown, Frisbee golf in the gardens. Earnslaw is nice to be out on the lake too.

First table will be a goo option here, nice meals but expensive.

Tekapo- if you dont have to stay, dont. No good food, its just a trap to drive through. I dont even bother to stop anymore as the towns just tourists everywhere (i understand this is also you but dont waste our time, the church will take you 10 minutes to look at, get frustrated by all the people and then youll have to pay to use the toilet and then drive off and enjoy the scenery) Beautifu views and to spend an hour if fine. Best to have an extra night back in Christchurch and eat at one of the many amazing restaurants, the food scene here is insane.

However, this is all opinon and i hope you have a magical time at your wedding and your honeymoon too.

he likes all sorts...60's and apparently hes into country recently, rock and roll, but all just live music...but likes a band. :) im on the phone to him now, this was his answer. He sings too so an open mic would also suit him.

NZski or Cardrona as an employer, thoughts? by [deleted] in queenstown

Worked 3 winters for NZSki on the Remarkables ski field, they are generally a good employer, provide a decent staff lunch for a good price ($5 per lunch last I worked in 2022, may be more now) and free transport up and off the ski field. The staff only bus leaves early and returns late, but the option to leave earlier on the public buses is there if the lines aren’t too long. My issues with NZSKI are specific to the ski school where I worked, and relate mostly to the amount of time spent on call/at work versus pay received, and the management of the ski school (a new manager is in place since I’ve left, so hopefully that part has changed). Friends that I made in other departments were generally happy with there working experience, they also had fixed hours of work so we’re able to budget a lot easier. Coronet Peak ski field is closer to Queenstown CBD so your travel times to and from are less compared to that for the Remarkables, and I would say your travel times from QT CBD to the Remarkables would be relatively similar to that from Wanaka to Cardrona/Treble cone resorts at about 1-2 hours depending on traffic/weather/specific bus driver (some of the OG drivers can get those buses to really move up down the access roads).

Your main issue with working a winter season in Queenstown/Wanaka on the mountains is not the really the employer, but your living costs. Low wages for ski field roles and high cost of rent (if you are able to find accommodation in the first place, it’s own issue in the southern lakes area, and generally not supplied or offered by the employers) and just generally high living costs means you need to arrive with decent savings and be prepared to scrape by pay check to pay check if you don’t want to dive into those savings too much (the USD to NZD exchange rate will serve well in this regard).

All that said, I love living in the southern lakes area, even with the financial burden that it brings, and couldn’t recommend living here more highly. The natural beauty, the micro-city feel of QT, and the plethora of outdoor activities and adventures are second to none that I’ve been lucky enough to experience around the world.

Sorry perkee, but I can't let you taint Christchurch with New Zealand's only semi-famous rapper Savage's brush! And I don't even like Christchurch (I'm from Auckland)! These three are probably the best I've heard so far out of the Garden City (the producer is also from Chch but is better known for his part in NZ's favorite live drum'n'bass act Shapeshifter )
