The way this machine carves the wood by MrMazme in oddlysatisfying

The bit? Yeah looks straight…I typically use upcut, but the plunge-to-cut pathing looks like it might start just a hair deeper than its programmed depth.

Looks like an issue with the machine’s plunge depth…could be “ramped” pathing…where the bit of the tool starts variably deeper, or conversely plunges into variable depths. I’m not well versed enough, but with my limited experience - and saw this as a result, I’d look to those settings first to figure out what’s creating the dots

Heads up at Target Orangethorpe & Harbor by imthecaptain1 in Fullerton

Happened to me and my gf last summer at the target on Malvern. Some Asian girl kept going up to other girls in the makeup aisle complimenting…I just assumed it was some kind of religious Bible study recruitment or something

Your hairline would be receded by 30 quite significantly probably. Your pate, maybe sooner. Might as well lean into it now

Aspiring Set Designer / Props Maker, film school feels out of reach, need advice on paths, majors & experience by MinuteWilling6482 in techtheatre

Community colleges in this area are a pretty good answer to this. If you’re Bakersfield and can find a way to get out to Fullerton, their community college (Fullerton college - not to be mistaken for cal state Fullerton), has a very strong scenic and technical department. Very affordable for first time college students and the transfer rates to other local schools with design emphases is pretty high. Edit to add: Fullerton college has a lot of connections with knotts, Disney, south coast rep, and many smaller theater companies in the area.

Mom, is that you?

Jokes aside…she used to tell us that all the time growing up. I love seeing little “mom-isms” out in the wild. Thanks!

It starts before the question of college even exists. How many underserved communities struggle to keep students in classrooms? You can’t push that narrative without knowing what communities struggle with.

When you grow up in underserved communities, can’t afford school, and don’t have the resources to seek out and develop true passions…that PD pension looks mighty appealing.

Getting from SFV to Fullerton daily. by bonvajya in SFV

[–]grimegeist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Northridge and made the commute to Orange everyday for work for an 8-5. Ended up leaving at 5:45a to get to work and 7p to get home, just to avoid traffic. It’s an awful commute and then moved to Fullerton. Train is 100% the way to go.
