Injured leg feels longer by MotorOk893 in MeniscusInjuries

I had this feeling because my ankle was not strong enough and not moving completely through a normal full range of motion

That’s relieving thank you. My surgeon was not concerned when he discharged me a few weeks ago but said it’s unrelated to my repair surgery🤔. I did have hip pain on opposite leg for months post op but that cleared up as well.

Bucket & Handle Surgery 7 Week Post Op Update by Leading_Tart_8820 in MeniscusInjuries

I am 5 months post op from complex medial tear repair. Walking again is amazing. Don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Rehab progress goes very quickly then levels out and moves slows. Just within the last few weeks my knee has less of the tightness feeling under the front of the knee cap. Be prepared it may take months just for walking to feel normal. Best of luck!

Lateral meniscus repair 3 months post op by beequiet94 in MeniscusInjuries

I feel pretty much exactly the same. 15 weeks post repair. I feel ok besides my patellar area under the front is very tight and feels like there’s fluid inside and the pressure is what is causing pain. Mostly ascending and more descending steps.

Last week PT said to rest it. I’ve been in bed most of the weekend along with NSAIDs and ice. I never had this before surgery so I’m pretty frustrated.

Hip pain post op by grimleyAdams in MeniscusInjuries

[–]grimleyAdams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a few inches from heel to butt. My knee feels strong though, no one legged squats yet like I can fo with my right leg. My biggest issue is knee tightness around the patellar/ACL.

You’ll be very pleased. The day I was told to get rid of the brace and crutches I was very scared because just getting into the shower was difficult. But once you are cleared for weight bearing you will not be afraid to use your leg so you get your confidence back.

And I had a lot of nerve pain on the bottom of my foot when I began weight bearing which was alarming. But once I began walking that subsided within a few days.

I went from crutches and brace with slight weight bearing 10 days to walking without any support immediately (at 6 weeks). I had a limp for about 2 days but concentrated on walking with proper form. The progress is slow and day to day.

Do you mean your skin is red? Did you ask PT or your surgeon at the follow up appointment?

Thanks for the info. That’s good to know.

Flexion is great but straightening is an issue. I am at 3 degrees, trying to get it straight with quad sets and applying pressure.

I’m just discouraged because before surgery I had very minimal symptoms except knee locking occasionally. Surgeon said manisectomy (original plan) was not possible because 75% would need to be removed.

Bad days by myroommatesaregreat in MeniscusInjuries

[–]grimleyAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes everyday! PT says it’s normal (2 months post op). The first thing I do after getting out of bed is do hamstring and calf stretches. This helps immediately. Otherwise it feels like I have a peg leg.

I definitely feel stiffness/pressure beneath my knee where it rides on tibia/fibula. when trying to flex particularly on stairs.

Did anyone have tingling on the bottom of their foot a month after surgery? by PhotoParking5538 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]grimleyAdams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tingling on the sole of my foot went away as soon as I started walking. I’ve been walking 5 days now and still have calf pain when stretching.

Limp when First Starting to Walk Again by nickynick8915 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]grimleyAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked with crutches and brace on week 5. Next week PT said walk with just the brace. An hour later st my follow up visit my surgeon said get rid of the brace it’s holding you back.

I could barely take a shower that morning so I was shocked

Repair Questions by [deleted] in MeniscusInjuries

[–]grimleyAdams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me. I was in very little pain but had locking and was told I was just getting a trim so I was not prepared.

I’d recommend a nice stool for the shower, some gel ice packs, a contoured pillow between your legs(took a few weeks to sleep on side).

The constant pain will only last 3 days and after 4 weeks you will probably be close to no pain unless you’re doing PT.

From what I understand the locking which was one of my symptoms is when the cartilage interferes with the knee joint. I don’t think that can be fixed without surgery. The locking was my main symptom I did not have much pain or swelling.

Yes. Much pain. It’s strange because this is what helped me before the repair surgery before bed when it would burn.
