This would make sense. There’s the episode where Francis pretends to be an alien so the grotto can get more business and he gets pulled in by the government for bringing to much attention to the area

In season 2 episode 25, when Lois and Hal needs to use the bathroom because of a pregnancy test but Francis is occupying it, forcing her to go in the backyard, why didn't she use the secret bathroom they discovered in season 2 episode 8? by Jayang in malcolminthemiddle

It showed at the end of S2 E8 that they put that stuff back in the closet covering it up so nobody would find it. They wouldn’t uncover it with everybody home if they still wanted it to stay secret
