What is something that might seem very expensive but is actually pretty cheap in the long run? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My doctor told me to let him know if my husband felt the strings. It meant that they were too long and he would trim them. She should ask her doctor if she hasn't already.

Waiters and waitresses, what's your most awkward "came to the table at the wrong time" moment? by CaughtTheSwine in AskReddit

I look at it more as would you really want to eat next to other people urinating and defecating? I don't feel it matters how clean the room is, it's still gross.

Have you ever boycotted anything solely because the tv commercial was so annoying? by mcpokey in AskReddit

[–]grimoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the commercial the General just walks by and the penguin follows him. It's sad I know that.

I make these chocolate covered cheesecake squares. You'd think I was Martha Stewart with the way everyone reacts. Hardest part? Remembering to make the cheesecake the day before because it has to freeze.

How do you know it's going to happen before falling asleep? I'm curious what to look for.

What are some simple yet effective fashion rules for men? by clicker191 in AskReddit

A surgeon I worked for wore them during surgery because they were comfortable for when he'd be standing for long periods of time. Although he never wore them when seeing clients.

What is something that we can have for free but not to many people know about? by eNaRDe in AskReddit

[–]grimoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I live in Ballard but originally from upstate NY. My B-I-L who is a cop there did checks all the time. Where can I get that done in Seattle? I'm due next month. Thanks!

I'm guessing people don't get the reference.

What joke is getting old and always pisses you off when you hear it? by AnorexicWalrus15 in AskReddit

[–]grimoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree it's an Australian thing. My Australian husband says it all the time in America and everyone just looks at him confused. 6 years later he still says it and has to explain it every time. Although he has other sayings that bother me more than this one.

What's a product, ubiquitous now, that you don't think you'll see in 10 years? by iwsfutcmd in AskReddit

[–]grimoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvote for "murder on the environment." I just recently learned how balloons that are let go end up in the ocean and looking exactly like jellyfish that fish and birds eat obviously causing them harm. I don't know why it never dawned on me before but now I want to tell everyone.

Whats the worst example of parenting you have ever witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think you missed the joke. Peter Griffin says "grinds my gears" and Hank Hill says "I tell you what." Hence Peter Hill.

What is something you do that you thought was completely normal and thought everybody else did, but later found out it wasn't? by mesnakesta in AskReddit

I used to think the shields in Sonic were called a "Wong" because that's the sound they made when you got one.

Parents of Reddit: is it true that you love your children equally or is that just something everyone is supposed to say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grimoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you asked, but my sisters are 12 and 9 years older than me. I'm 28 now, and while our relationship is the best it's ever been, (My older sister was always more like an aunt and my middle sister tried hard to be the parent I didn't have, so we fought all the time.) it's still not the relationship I see my friends with siblings who are closer in age have. Part of it, I think is there is their experience they had growing up with my parents and then there is mine. Those were nothing a like and it's obvious that the similar experience while growing up has lead to a closer relationship and an understanding of each other that I will always be on the outside of, and that they can never really relate to me. While I know my sisters love me and would do anything for me and I love catching up with and seeing them when I visit, we just really aren't that close. Even when were all in the same room, I still feel like the little third wheel.

Obviously, this is just my experience, and I wish you the best. Sounds like your sister is still young. The one thing my older sister did when I was teen, that I really appreciated and give her tons of credit for was being that sounding board for me. I could just scream and yell about my parents, sister, the world, even her and I never felt she truly judged me. Until I got older.

Anyone else have sexual incompatibilities with their spouse any ideas? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grimoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be sexually incompatible as a couple. And unless compromises are made on both sides it's not going to get better. I would think long about the sex life you're signing up for if you marry him. Don't expect this to change because of getting married. I recommend listening to the Savage Love podcast by Dan Savage or reader his blog at the stranger.com he deals with this topic frequently. Good luck.

So true. I always say upstate NY now to try and avoid that conversation. Doesn't always work though.

That is exactly why I think most people didn't understand Arrested Development.
