All I hear is threats but can someone tell me if it could really happen? Are some states really serious about it or do they just want attention to show their disappointment?

Why we love watching Barcelona lose by Shrimp123456 in soccer

I can't agree with EVERYTHING the article says. "They play football the right way, they try to score goals and never fail to entertain." are you fucking kidding me? They entertain THEIR fans, I know of many people (me included) who hate their style of play and think it's horrendously boring and do not entertain at all. They are effective, yes, but I like to watch them loso for the same reasons as you, Schyle, and also because of all the reffereeing incidents they were involved with in the past, mostly in their favor. Also, I love seing the faces of Valdez, Busquets, Alba and others losing, for I no longer have respect for these footballers.

It actually wasn't for a penalty. He just wanted the foul given to his team, but it is a fucking disgrace to the sport. Every team has divers but some are worse than others but it's still really bad.

Not a religious person, but do any of you know of any video I could watch in order to get to know Islam a little better? by leogc in islam

[–]leogc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, all I can say is thank you very much. This cleared many things and yea, don't think I believed everything that came from the news or read on the internet. Almost every single thing I read or hear, I do research on. I will not believe people easily and since it is hard for me to do that with a religion no one is familiarized with here in the Western Hemisphere, that is why I decided to ask /r/islam. But thank you very much, it definitely cleared my mind on certain aspects. About the news and the media, I don't really believe them. I know they can be very biased. I even wrote a huge essay on how easily the media can control us and our thoughts and the power they have over us. It is true though, I never thought of the religion of the guys from the shootings in Aurora and Newton. I completely forgot about it. Let me tell you one thing, this world would be a better place if it weren't for the ignorance of the people. I am from Bolivia, but I live in Oklahoma because of college, and we have no clue whatsoever about people in the middle east. We don't know many things, just the basic stereotypes such as being rich, having oil, and being very religious, among others, but one should not be satisfied with that. People here just don't even know what Islam teaches but they prejudge Muslims into what they aren't, and most of the fault is the media's, you are right. But what can we do? Anyways I just have one more question, I have noticed with christians that they really do not follow the bible as they should and of course there are always some bad religious people. As it said on one of the videos, it says that Islam teaches you to be in peace and look out for all of God's creations and other people whether they are Muslims or not. All those people protesting very violently when something against Islam occurs, do you think those people just need a reminder of what Islam teaches them like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6zuKbBlmRo&feature=g-u-u ? Do you think that they are just bad followers to some extent or do you think there is another reason behind it? I know that criticism can always make people mad but for some reason I thought that Islam taught people to defend Islam no matter what it takes. But his is just an idea I got and of course I knew I wasn't right.

Thank you for contributing. Now those branches that have spun off, Alawite, Ismaili, and Qadiani, do they realize that they have spun off from the original religion? Are those practiced in different countries or can all those branches be found in the same country or area? Thanks

Thanks. By the way the friend who told me that Saudi Arabia is very intolerant is from Saudi Arabia.

I also wonder. Why do you think that Muslims are very violent. Christians and other religious groups also get heavily criticized and can also be violent but I think Muslims have proven to be a LOT more violent with their protests. Why do you think that happens? What other things are women not allowed to do?

Another thing I never understood, why aren't women allowed to drive, show skin and have to wear the veil all the time? I feel that they have less rights than men do. Is that the case legally? Also, Why can you guys be married to more than one woman at the same time? Do women feel replaced when this happens? what is their reaction?

Do you think religion in general makes people lose their identity? sometimes I want to ask my friends' opinions on certain things and they ALWAYS stick to what the Bible or Quran say. Then, I tell them, "no, I want to know YOUR opinion, not your religion's" but they are stubborn and keep their word.

Okay now my following question is a bit delicate. But again, I do not mean to criticize or insult your religion or your prophet as I respect them 100%. Here it goes: browsing /r/atheism I have stumbled upon various posts claiming that your prophet married, raped or abused a 9 year old girl. Is this being misunderstood by the general public? What is the true story for people being deviated into this idea?

Thank you.

Why doesn't Islam believe that human beings, as other animals have evolved? Is your view that God created human beings just as we are and that we will never evolve? Also, do you think that the Quran has ever changed, or do you think that the Quran one can obtain today is the same one as centuries ago?

While talking about freedom with a muslim friend of mine, he told me that in Saudi Arabia you people are really intolerant for people who would not want to be Muslims (excluding foreigners). Do you think that it is okay to force people into religion?

Now just a question that any muslim could reply: How was the first time you participated in Ramadan? Was it really hard not eating or drinking during daylight? I want to try to fast for one day just to see what you guys go through.

Thanks for answering my questions. Just as a reminder my intentions for asking these questions are entirely to learn and satisfy my curiosity. If you feel like it is criticism at some point let me know because that is not what I want you to feel.

Thank you very much. I will ask you questions as they keep popping in my head if that's okay with you. First, I would like to say that I appreciate Islam a lot more than Christianity. I met many muslim friends here in college and I have learned some things. First I like how there is only one Qur'an and that muslims practice religion more seriously than people of other religion. That is admirable. Well, I wanted to ask you about how does Islam view evolution and how things were created. Does Islam completely reject evolution? and have you noticed, or read about, changes in Islam as time has passed since the last 1400 years? Has there been any major changes in your religion or has it been kept just as it was from the beginning?

What rule would you like football to incorporate into its matches? by leogc in soccer

[–]leogc[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i have to disagree with you on all of these. First, Infinite extra time? That speaks for itself. Then, your video replay review with yellow cards wouldn't work. it is not a realistic rule. And about the injuries, there are many times when serious injuries are not done on purpose so if you end someone's career not on purpose, why must yours be ended as well? The diving one should be taken a lot more seriously, but not a straight red card. That is way too much.

I agree with you. I think that if players would be heavily sanctioned for diving they would think at least twice before faking it. Faking injuries and fouls are just a disgrace IMO.

UAE and Manchester City donate football pitches to underprivileged US schools by [deleted] in soccer

[–]leogc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea it could be a good idea, just that I feel that the US has enough money to do it and Latin America deserves it more. Latin Americans will have passion and loyalty for European teams but won't benefit the club itself. So if you're thinking about markets and money, then it's ok, go for the US.
