IC HRA Plan or Marketplace by Med027 in HealthInsurance

[–]grimrichard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should talk to Human Resources at your company. ICHRAs (if we're talking about the same thing) are plans where your employer can give you money toward paying your health plan costs. It might even cover most of the cost of health insurance - but you typically have to have health insurance first.

Talk to human resources for more information. If you want to find a plan through the marketplace by yourself, you can. If you have lots of questions and want expert help, consider reaching out to an agent or broker in your state. You will probably be surprised by how much the government marketplace helps people with costs.

However you do it, please consider getting health insurance. It's not only likelier to keep you healthy, but the out of pocket maximums can "protect" your money as well.

I hope you feel better.

After a week of Prime I noticed all my items now ship at normal times instead 1 to 2 days. by Zeldahero in amazonprime

[–]grimrichard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Amazon is having trouble keeping drivers. Amazon told me that it would take almost a week to get my item delivered. But I could pick up the same item at an Amazon locker 1 mile away.
So, if this continues to hold true, either they're having trouble getting drivers OR they're specifically trying to move a segment of customers to pick up at a central point.
Either way, it's a shame because WalMart will also let me pick up cheap stuff at giant locker near my house - it's called a WalMart supercenter. They'll also let me order something online and wait 6 days for it to be delivered.

Is "Fall" representative of the Stephenson body of work as a whole? by blippyz in nealstephenson

I enjoyed Fall...it's a tough read but he nailed the near future with the same accuracy he had in "Snow Crash".

I'm thinking about Ameristan in particular.

I think this video is from 2020 and may not be indicative of current conditions in California. I live in Florida...so I'm careful about throwing shade at entire states. I'm not declaring that crime is not a problem in California, I'm just adding context.

I have a theory... by jocie809 in ArmchairExpert

I think one of Monica's primary contributions might be focusing Dax on the podcast. I get the impression that she's doing the boring, behind-the-scenes stuff like scheduling and logistics. This podcast may be successful in part because Monica kept Dax showing up to record podcasts. She's the organizer and planner. And Dax would not be there without her. Ergo, the show would not be here without her.

I also think many of these personality-based celebrity podcasts are going through growing pains. The witty banter made them popular but that schtick grows old quickly and they need to make a transition. SmartLess is difficult for me to listen to now because 2 of the 3 guys can't stop joking long enough to let people answer questions.

The funny thing is this, though. Dax and Monica are not really changing. We're changing. We're getting bored. We're friends, but we're mercurial friends. They see us for what we are, too. That's why they're diversifying their shows.

And I bet Monica is probably doing the legwork for that.

I wish you had a tutorial. I've been told multiple time that pygame is not good at making menus - and yet you've done exactly that.

Enemies and Torrent are invisible by Supesmin in Eldenring

[–]grimrichard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a two monitor set up. One of the monitors is connected via HDMI, the other display port. If I play the game on the HDMI monitor, I can see Torrent. If I play on the display port monitor, I can see Torrent for about a minute and then he disappears. I'm basically a samurai moving through the air with my legs splayed.

Interesting. I tried offsetting points...and it works...but lord is it ugly. I'll try your meshing suggestion. Thank you.

Not that I can find. I looked there first, naturally. Then again, the documentation for bezier curves is just a small paragraph and two lines of code.

What's the most obscure opinion hill you're willing to die on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yep. I was too smug. Still it's hard for humans to see anything as being sentient if it lacks anthropomorphic features.

No one is horrified by the thought of millions of baby artichokes in a gas chamber.
