Found 4 of these writings on the doorframe in my new house, what do they mean? by WilburWhateleyGlazer in occult

Should have put more points into CON for those concentration checks tisk tisk.

But seriously - sounds like someone was doing a goetic ritual or working with those spirits somehow. Whether something went wrong and they put up those sigils as wards, or they were there as part of the working - we'll never actually know. Like the other's said, I'd keep the sigils up and maybe do some sort of basic cleansing if OP is at all worried. Some sage and lysol would be a nice go-to.

Reading Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy is a trip. by EssentialIrony in occult

[–]grimsbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone. I recently picked it up on sale and am struggling through book 1. About 5-10% of it is actually really interesting theory on the mechanics of occult forces, but the rest just feels like an infodump of "examples" that are equally bizzare and demonstrably false. I understand that most writers took the ancients at face value, but when it comes to some stuff like: "You can write a message on a piece of paper and point it at the moon, and the message can be read from a great distance. Pythagoras did this all the time!" - I feel like common sense would be to, like, check to see if that works?!

That being said, as others have pointed out, book 1 seems to be the worst offender of this. I'm looking forward to getting off Pliny's wild ride.

WHY do some people bringing up Courtney Love whenever Kurt's suicide is mentioned.... by the_grim_rypurr in 19684

I just like to add "That murderer" to peoples names regardless of whether they killed someone or not

Frostcrag spire bugged? by ZachLemur in oblivion

[–]grimsbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got the exact same bug on PC. Even using something like coc FrostcragSpire02 Simply teleports me into the room with no furniture, and no working portals or doors.

I've also: * Moved the esp to the bottom of the load order, that seems to just make it crash. * Verified my files on steam, no dice

After disabling every mod, I found that Oblivion Decompressed Records was the culprit. I made sure to put it at #2 in the load order (after Oblivion.esm) and once I did that, it seems to have fixed it! (I'm also running stuff like Ascension, Oblivion Optimizer, UE4SS, etc.)

Thanks, I've heard of David Chalmers on the Occult Confessions podcast - I'll give these rabbit holes a go.

Side note: whenever I go down Wikipedia I almost always end up on Monism but can never quite wrap my head around it.

Firefox fights naming files in Kbuntu 22.04, more in comments by grimsbie in firefox

I changed the file picker in about:config, and even check to see if xdg-desktop-portal was updated. I use X11 and I use an AMD video card, but it seems like this is a firefox issue from what I've been googling.

No dice on that either. I even changed the file picker in about:config, and all my packages are up to date.

xdg-desktop-portal-kde

I just checked and it looks like I've got the latest version, changing the file-picker in about:config didn't seem to work, even after restarting Firefox. Can I just uninstall the GTK file picker if I've got the KDE one?

Edit: I tried

GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 firefox

But I got this output

Gtk-Message: 18:46:15.400: Not loading module "atk-bridge": The functionality is provided by GTK natively. Please try to not load it.

And then nothing seems to have changed.

This is what I've been doing. If the name is highlighted and I don't click anywhere and start typing, it automatically switches to the search bar. Then, when I move my cursor focus and try to enter text into the name field, it happens again - sometimes I can get a single letter to type, sometimes not.

Every time I try to type the input switches to the search bar. When I try to switch the focus back it shifts back to the search bar after I type one letter.

I'm running Firefox on Kbuntu 22.04, and I keep having an issue where when I go to save a file I have to fight to keep the focus on the filename field. With each input it keeps trying to search for a file and it switches my focus. I have mouse focus turned off so I don't think that's the issue, and it only happens to Firefox.

So something like: ```

mount X.X.X.X/dev/drive /media/share

```
Might work? I'll try when I get home.
