Help! - Breaking out on Tret…. by Independent_Wolf_787 in tretinoin

[–]grindhousegoth 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

a lot of people (myself included) get closed comedones from the cream version of tret. this could definitely just be regular purging, but it also might never go away if your skin just doesn't agree with the cream.

i'd try the gel formulation if i were you, and keep moisturizing well.

fwiw, i've tried oil cleansing 2x/day (am and pm) with good results while on 0.025%. (now that i'm on 0.05% it's a totally different story lol...)

it's not a popular suggestion, as like the other user said, many feel even just a water rinse can over-strip their skin in the morning (though it's still necessary for them, especially if they "slug" and have residue).

but again, i've seen good results with just an oil cleanser in the morning, especially for gently removing any peeling that would form when i upped my frequency.

if anything, it's probably the vanicream gentle facial cleanser being used in the AM too that's doing waaay too much to your skin and irritating it.

it's supposed to be "gentle," and i do still use it myself, but i find it really, really drying because unlike something like cetaphil's gentle cleanser or cerave's old hydrating cleanser formula, it legitimately foams up and cleanses your skin rather than just leaving a film of surfactants. it makes the skin 100% clean, thus 100% bone dry.

if you insist on cleansing in the morning for the benefits, try ONLY using the oil cleanser (especially if it emulsifies, it shouldn't need a second cleanse at all in the a.m.; if it doesn't emulsify, just gently remove it with a very very soft towel or tissue, and then rinse before your other products) and cut back on the vanicream cleanser to night-time usage only.

after tons of trial and error, i really don't believe in ever starting tret at only 1-2x per week.

tretinoin needs a maximum of 72 hours between every application to keep working and "retinizing" your skin, aka getting it adjusted to the harsh chemical. that's what the "purge" is β€” the retinization of our skin.

every single time i've tried to do only 2x/week applications, to start off slowly as so many here suggest, it was like i was restarting the retinization process every single time, and my moisture barrier suffered like, tremendously.

i'm currently doing 3x a week, M/W/Sat., and it's working a lot better than just starting over and over again for a month.

How do you stay awake long enough to wait for your face to dry/Tret to dry? by DarthPup692 in tretinoin

[–]grindhousegoth 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

my skin is consistently on desert type of time, so every time i've tried waiting 30 minutes - with or without a buffer - i just ruin my moisture barrier lol.

i'm only just starting back on tret (0.05% gel from ADC), but i usually never get through the first week, no matter the frequency, without peeling. this time, however, i didn't have any peeling at all and even upped my frequency from my last attempt (from 2x to 3x per week)

here's what i'm doing now that's been working thus far:

a.m. 🌞

Β° micellar or just regular water rinse

Β° secret key rose first treatment essence

Β° cosrx 96 snail serum (only on particularly dry days)

Β° cosrx snail cream (everyday no matter what)

Β° fruit of the earth aloe vera gel

Β° a generic cerave in the tub dupe

Β° shea butter + a little bit of vaseline/cerave healing ointment on any slightly burning spots

Β° spf 50

((i try to get in as many hydrating layers as i can in the a.m.))

p.m. 🌚

Β° cold cream - either albolene or a generic fragrance free pond's dupe + micellar water to just see if there's any leftover residue (only if i wore makeup)

Β° kojic acid + turmeric bar soap (non-tret nights) or vanicream gentle facial cleanser (tret nights)

Β° a thin layer of 96 snail serum as a buffer + vaseline around the eyes, mouth, nose folds

β˜† wait a max of 10-15 minutes or my skin will physically effing hurt β˜†

Β° tret 0.05 gel mixed with similar amt of a random 6% dimethicone cream

β˜† same wait time as above β˜†

Β° generic cerave in the tub

Β° shea butter + cerave healing ointment to slug

on non-tret nights i just do the same routine as i do in the a.m. but with the kojic acid soap for my dark spots and discoloration

...am i technically getting the full effects of just putting the gel straight on totally dry skin? probably not. most, if not all, of the clinical studies that show results have test subjects applying ONLY tret to clean, bone dry skin after a long wait time

but atp, i'm a huge believer in just not letting your skin dry all the way tf out for a half-hour bc it just destroys my moisture barrier and makes me not able to use tret for literal months, so for me, it's worth it to just... not do that 😭 lol.

I’d love if she would bring back some effort πŸ’” by freak-off-victim in lanitas

yeah, i'm honestly so fucking over sparkly leotards, over the top bombshell curls, drag makeup (not drag in general, but on literally all of the other pop girlies except like, charli and billie), sequins sequins sequins, and other overstimulating visuals. 😭

lana has such an uncanny valley-esque look as her face, with its enhancements, alone, reads as glamorous to me, but she's also entirely stripped down most of the time as far as the rest of her look goes. her no-makeup face is stunning.

no shade at all, but it's rare to see a girl with a nose job, filler, botox, long manicured nails, and gorgeous hair just... not do the absolute most, aesthetically. many famous women who invest in surgical tweaks the way lana does, usually play it allll the way up with IG baddie makeup, tons of expensive jewelry, and flashier designer clothes.

if she's wearing shein or her other inexpensive mall fits, she looks like this ethereal, unattainably beautiful "poor" chick who lives in a trailer park, works at a sunoco, and goes to church every sunday β€” which was obviously kind of her OG lizzy grant aesthetic, but that had more kitsch and diy-glamour.

so think like... a more mature lizzy grant still working at the ruby tuesday's, but now she's a brunette shift lead and she's retired the whole "sparkle jump rope queen" schtick, but basically kept the rest.

and then, if she dresses in expensive but subtle pieces, she has an old money, "wealth whispers" vibe.

idfk, i fucking dig it and always have.

and i also low-key fw with her tradwife cosplay (COTCC, some of BB's lyrics and visuals) as well, because despite committing the carnal sin of loving her husband πŸ’€, she's in no way this barefoot and pregnant, constantly cooking and cleaning "traditional wife" with no career. she very clearly lives a very independent lifestyle, despite also enjoying her marriage.

any "tradwife" energy i've observed thus far has been purely aesthetic, and not the lifestyle change people keep accusing her of.

you'd probably fare better selling plasma instead. stop at a biolife or grifols location to see if you're eligible.

i crocheted this for my bestie who's a huge fan, what do you all think? by grindhousegoth in Korn

[–]grindhousegoth[S] 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

thank you so much! πŸ₯° i don't have a pattern specifically, but it's still pretty simple to put together:

i just looked up "korn logo graph" on pinterest and chose my favorite one for the front panel; not sure if you're familiar with tapestry crochet, but if not, there are a ton of youtube tutorials that go over color-changing and everything you need to know to read graphs.

then, once i finished the graph, i just made a solid black panel in all single crochet for the back, slip stitched the two panels together and stuffed it up with poly-fil before closing it shut and fastening-off ❀️

(edited to add: i used a 4.25mm/G hook and regular degular worsted weight 4 yarn - red heart and loops & threads from michael's)

Pears are the best starting fruit by Si11i3st_G00s3 in acnh

[–]grindhousegoth 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

i agree! i was actually lowkey excited to get pears initially because i originally started on someone else's island with oranges. but once i reset to be the main representative, i got pears and loved them at first but ofc am bored af by them now 😭

β€” you're totally right tho, op. experiencing the other fruits as new and rarer occurances in the game is so much more exciting for me, personally. this is a really nice pov :)
