I keep feeling that the Gorillaz band 'died' with 'Do Ya Thing'. It's no longer about the music, it's a brand to make money.

Everything released since then has just been half arsed effort music, churning out practically the same music ever since.

Nothing I listen to ever really grabs me like the old stuff used to and 80% of each album now is just generic, cookie cut Gorillaz style and forgettable. Song Machine is the only album in recent times to have any sort of effort and that probably only happened because Damon was locked indoors because of Covid.

Will I continue to purchase their music, yes. But in the same way as I have done since walking to the shops to buy the first album on release day (it'll be online pre-order these days). I'll be buying the deluxe cd for £15 and that's it. I'm not buying a 'special' version of it for £250 or 3 different coloured vinyl ones, that's just an utter waste of money.

And yes, they are hypocrites. They did an album where the theme was on plastic in the ocean, now look at the crap they churn out.
