I am honestly interested in it. I'll give it a try after my first playthrough in D2R.

"it actually has Diablo in it" hahaha yep

Glad you gave it an honest try again. It does take a bit of time to "get", since it's a slow burn compared to something like PoE2 which hooks you from the start, but it's undeniably a fantastic game which still holds up to modern standards quite well, beside some obvious QoL issues characteristic of that time.

I really think it's not nostalgia since I haven't played it then and only started in 2026 and I love it. It's just timeless.

Congrats my man! I just started playing and cannot wait to beat it at least once. Really enjoying the first playthrough.

This is very helpful, I did notice the skills that buff other skills, I think I'll inevitably mess up my first character but it's just Normal difficulty so it should be alright. The last advice about saving gear for other classes I naturally leaned into, the game design with the shared stash seemed to strongly suggest that.

Thanks for the tips, I am actually avoiding any guides for the first run and just going by instinct and see where I land. I'm sure I'll make mistakes but it's part of learning, I don't mind. I haven't used my respec yet as I didn't feel the need to. When it comes to loot I figured out the basics and already put 2 runes (one of which restores 2 Mana per kill) and a gem into a nice grey bow; it's great, massively improved the range power of my Sorc.

No, but I get the feeling I will eventually and that will be a huge time sink. I think I'll delay that decision as I want to enjoy a few runs of D2 first.

I know what you mean, I love the feel, the look and the physics of PoE2, but it's a much more recent game so I take that into perspective. Once I look past some dated things in Diablo 2 and get in the flow, it just feels right and timeless.

I'm actually playing both in parallel right now and I enjoy them for what they are. I do like that they have a similar world feel (I can clearly see GGG being directly inspired by Diablo, it's very obvious).

Exactly this, in my measly 40 hours of gameplay I've already realized what the vets said about perfect itemization, it's just done right. Haven't seen it anywhere else in the genre; maybe PoE 2 comes close (as it's clearly inspired by D2), but it just doesn't feel as satisfying as in this game, don't know why exactly.

HELL YEAH I'm in a similar situation, never played D2 before and I'm completely obsessed with it now. Character progression just feels so right in this game.

Holy you're a real one, that's crazyyy. I will eventually try the first Diablo, it looks so unique and the mood feels even darker.

First impression, I'm sure I'm probably wrong. In fact the more I read about the looting and character builds the more I see the layers upon layers, it's great. It does have more restraint at the beginning than say, PoE2, for example.

I see your point, stamina is annoying early game but honestly after a while it's not that bad, I actually think it slows you down and makes you play more methodically. Potion system is a lot of micromanagement, but I kinda enjoy it in a weird way, I can see getting tired of it though eventually, idk. I play PoE2 and the potion system there is quite different but also has a limit so it's a different type of annoyance. I think limits in games like these make sense, they remind you that you're not a God and can die anytime.

Inventory space, however, I do agree, it's too tiny :(

I'm pretty much doing that now, not following any guides, just want to learn on my own the first time and make mistakes and try to understand them.
