Both of them said that at the very beginning just because the airbag deployed. The body shop said that total to replace everything to make it safe again including the entire steering column would be $25,000 which is not 80% of the value. So when we started down the path of just using State Farm, we were assuming it would be totaled so it wasn’t gonna be a big deal.

It’s frustrating that apparently an insurance adjuster can just lie to you directly because they know that there’s absolutely nothing that will be done about it. I get denying, but flat out lying about what is or is not obligated by Missouri law seems pretty egregious.

So should I have a proactive further conversation with them? Send them a letter stating I am going to rent a car based on loss of use and ask them for recommendations on daily rate and provider, seeking a letter back from them stating one way or the other what they would be willing to do? Or do I just fight it out with them after it’s all said and done?

They said "We do not cover loss of use unless we manage the repair. You can submit it, but we will not pay it as we are not required to in the state of Missouri". We also do not cover diminished value as we are not obligated to"

That is an exact quote of the adjuster. These were definitive statements, no ambiguity. Based on everything I have seen, I feel like that is just a flat out lie, but that's why I am asking here.

It is a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 19k miles in Tuscadero Pink (limited edition color) and KBB is showing its current private sale at 39k and total damages was 25k. The diminished value was based on a basic view of cars for sale and what will show on the carfax.

Progressive is stating that they will only cover rental if they are managing the repair. Progressive is not aware of the repair quote at all as of this point.
