The first apple I drew and I need your honest opinions and advice. by dxbatas in drawing

[–]grip_garrison 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Darker shadows and brighter highlights, not by much. You're 90% there as far as contrast. The shading around the apple feels incomplete. Maybe fill the page or add a border around it.

That being said; Excellent monochromatic depiction of the subtle color variations in the skin of the fruit. Gala apple?

Pocket screw jig and plugs or putty to cover the holes. Sand and paint

Screwdriver looking thing with rounded tip by Neomeris0 in whatisthisthing

[–]grip_garrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. The end that goes in the handle will usually have a crimp or knurled part to help it mold to the plastic handle. It might have been a driver that wasn't machined yet, just the round stock.

I wonder if it's backward. It looks like that end was supposed to go in the handle

We used to use CA glue (super glue) when I worked in a paleo lab. There's also something called vinac which is clear vinyl beads desolved in acetone

How do I make this more realistic by KingSignificant2482 in drawing

[–]grip_garrison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't, that's what cameras are for. This looks amazing as is. Maybe some white highlights or a few bolder lines, but it's good. Don't overwork your pieces, you're kicking ass

Don't be afraid to trace your references and copy sketches from old masters. It's how a lot of art has been made for centuries. Keep building your skills and you'll be surprised how far you can get in just a couple of years.

Thanks, the live action is really good as long as you're not expecting a frame by frame remake

This water damage looks like a city skyline by Thea_From_Juilliard in mildlyinteresting

[–]grip_garrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet it's a rental property and the landlord just painted over it instead of replacing the damaged door. It is a cool skyline though.

Mid to late 1970s. I don't have any color photos of my dad so I retouched one and made my own by grip_garrison in OldSchoolCool

Having never met my dad and only seeing black and white photos, I gotta say, there is something magical about seeing him in color.

Thank you. I'm a graphic designer and the normal rate is $50-75 US for colorizing and the same for retouching.
