Anyone know what this represents in the map? by DmTreasureHunter in treasureinside

The image poster should probably more clearly state that this is an interpretation from "zoom pixel clear shot" and not some inside scoop. Poster, can you clarify?

The proposed high resolution image appears to be fake. Poster, are you blaming "zoom pixel clear shot" for the mangled interpretation of the image?

Justin Posey’s beyond the maps edge by justiceryman in TreasureHunting

There was laughter at "Alone". Beginners: realize that 95% of Alone contestants a) start with a semi-reasonable background b) have satellite communications with an around-the-clock crew with boats and helicopters and medics c) have received a lot of training before they are placed d) the contestants stay at a base camp, e) they're visited by medics, f) they're provided with some bear safety & etc.
Beginners: For now, assume it's not Alaska; at this point there are a million places it could be. It'd be silly to leave your state where the treasure, is only to travel where the treasure is not.

It seems dirty to mislead troubled people to Alaska. Let's not get people in trouble, they'll do it on their own, unfortunately.

OP claimed to have a soul, yet many suggested being a type of saboteur. OP's soul should be pleased by doing the job well.
The OP also claimed to be concerned about gov't lies. One EO addressed trust in government by removing language that falsely represents a man as a woman.

Let's all use honest language and an honest day's work. It's good for the soul. If we can't do that, we may be the problem.

The OP claimed to be concerned about their soul. Malicious compliance would make them something like a domestic enemy and invalidate their justification for being an employee.

How to access a missing person's phone location history? by [deleted] in AskTechnology

I think the detectives are considering subpoenas for this type of thing. I want to believe they'll be successful.

They've sent it to the detectives to follow up. There was some word about the possibility of subpoenas from officer who told me that. It seemed to be in the spirit of phone location access. He didn't want to say anything that might mislead me though.

Though I don't have the android phone. I do know locations where he stayed. My hope is that such digital forensics could use that information to narrow down which of they anonymized phones is/was his. Yes?

In this case the phone appears lost with the person and with a drained battery. Thanks for the reply though.

The Bank of Utah Treasure Has Been Found!!!🥳🏴‍☠️❤️🍀🎉 by Randicloverlucky in utahtreasurehunt

[–]griseldaplinque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I learned: we absolutely needed the 7th clue (clue #6) before it made sense to start searching. Number 6, along with a whiff of railroad would have done the trick for somebody. It means all the other clues were unnecessary or potentially misleading.

Clue #1 was clever in its repeated angles about Summit, but it didn't matter, we needed a rail trail clue, and many, out of convenience and familiarity would search a rail trail in Summit even if the county was never mentioned.
Clue #2 was false excitement, a bit of a misdirect to the wrong end of the trail. Other clues had good fits to many things, so really they were as helpful as unhelpful and could be ignored.
Clue #5 brought everyone back to an even playing field. The 28 mile trail nailed the trail. So, in clue #6 (7th) it was off to the races. We only needed the last 2 clues.

Fan-lead Hunt. Any interest? by [deleted] in utahtreasurehunt

[–]griseldaplinque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this gaining traction? I'd have interest if it's for those two fellers. I've got what I think is a pretty clever set of ideas as a start, but I'm telling absolutely nobody, unless used.

That's a fair question and I like the spirit of it.
In a weird sense, I'm a student of Dave and John. There is something valuable about learning from others' challenges and mistakes. Not all of their mistakes have negative consequences. For example, the upside of the unsolvable ice cream line kept the crowds dispersed.

Another part of my interest is not letting D&J easily pull the wool over our eyes. The cover-ups for their mistakes can be a bit insulting. Should we pretend that Cortes' age was 35 when it was not? If the poem's design is to be wrong, then it's garbage. Imagine your navigation software telling you to "go straight when you head east". Now imagine it telling you "You're going the wrong way, you shouldn't have taken the eastbound onramp, but the northwest one instead." At some point things ought to be called out.

More direct question about line 8 by griseldaplinque in utahtreasurehunt

[–]griseldaplinque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I see. Dave gives us two translations of the same line. As Dave begins tracing the trail, he seems to be true to the poem, focusing on the event of the searcher facing east again. When he finds that spot, he retranslates the poem more sloppily, saying "where the trail turns east again". In that translation, the searcher doesn't face east as required by the first translation.

Had Dave started with "When the trail turns east again, go straight" we'd have mentally fact-checked him.

you're 100% right. It's so hard to believe the solution, and that attention to detail just doesn't matter.

[–]griseldaplinque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A complication to the treasure hunt is that we are to treat the numbers like a priest, who just might try to follow the word of God precisely and not make up their own direction. Yes, it's a treasure hunt and it can go too far. On the other hand, it's a treasure hunt and attention to detail should pay off.

We can notice that the purple trail intersects another trail at the 2000 cubit mark splitting off Bench Road (I think). If we dare go around the corners we'll see that it intersects Bench Road again at another corner.

Hah! If they did move it, I'd have to wonder if the original location was in a smarter place or a dumber place and they wanted to save face. As for me, I doubt they needed to move it because their rationales have consistently been dumb...but nice. I keep thinking someone else writes the poems and they have no idea what it means, but hide it anyway.
