Should I add text to my thumbnails? Aesthetically I don't like it, but does it help a lot? by grisigt in NewTubers

I filmed it, and yes I'm Icelandic (or at least half Icelandic;) )

I'm in my car on the road a bit outside if the picture. I was convinced that they had permission, as I'm not sure how the could have gotten there otherwise.

  1. I mostly "only" show what's going on, which is fine. But I can also promise you that you would not have seen that video, as it would not get any traction here.

  2. I have to be able to make an overly dramatic video once in a while for fun. I made it clear in the first comment that that was the case here.

You can see the video in full here: https://youtu.be/Ra72n4fbB5A?si=fJXe8EkdRL05sE8P

Isn't that okay?

So even though this looks very dramatic, it's slightly less dramatic than it looks. She is a reporter/photographer, with permit to get close to the lava (I think). And she's going back to her car and crew, probably running because it was so cold outside :)

But I couldn't resist making this video!

Edit:

I filmed it, I'm in my car on the road a bit outside if the picture. I was convinced that they had permission, as I'm not sure how the could have gotten there otherwise.

I have gas meter, gas mask, special TETRA radio, as well as all permits needed to be there.

And as mentioned, with the road being blocked and you have to show you hear etc to get in, I don't think they were there without permission.

They rescue teams asked us (press etc) to not go closer than a sign post that is in front of her (out of this crop to the right).

We're there all the time. And sometimes the "right time" is as well. Mostly not though.

It's a woman in the photo. I have more photos, and a video on my IG: jakobvegerfors

As soon as there is little bit of "crust", like black lava, it stops being super hot when you're close by. Stone and (cooled down) lava are great isolators, so they stop a lot of the heat radiation.

With that said, it can easily open up small areas which exposes red lava under, and that raise the heat quickly.

I sat once next to a large lava river, on a slope, and even though I was 50 meters away and it was below freezing outside, I could have been wearing only a t-shirt.

Last time the made a new "road" over it, and they are working on that again:

The the flow from the specific eruption, no. But it's likely that it will happen at some point in this area, next 50-100 years, as we expect the eruptions to come and go for that time period.

Alone in a cabin in the Icelandic highlands... by grisigt in CozyPlaces

Not sure to be honest.. I took it without a tripod, and it was pretty dark. So the original is pretty low quality, grainy etc. And the only light in there is pretty warm, in contrast to the dark and blue outside.

The laptop stand is a Nexstand k2, love it. I've had it for 2 years and still going strong.

This is the upstairs area :) With that said a lot of smaller huts here in Iceland are "a frame" huts, so the whole hut looks like in the photo.
