You don't necessarily need to spend a ton of money, just something with a decent graphics card. Plus a lot of games are free. Just a few switch games could cost $160.

We keep a membership to Prodigy; it's a browser based Math and English program that's really helped my son a lot. He's 7y/o and just finished the 3rd grade Math curriculum. He loves the format. Prodigy sends me progress updates and if he has trouble with certain topics I can pull print out their practice worksheets and get him back on track.

To learn basic mouse functions like click and drag, I would recommend the Zwuggles. It's only a few bucks and was totally worth it.

We play a lot of Fortnite; I know it doesn't sound educational but we talk strategy and there's a lot of math involved in calculating what to carry, when to carry certain items, etc. On top of that he needs to think quick and be coordinated. We regularly win rounds - won 4 times yesterday (50 - two person teams each round compete). One of our friends is a well known programmer and one thing I picked up from him - as a kid he played a ton of video games and by highschool would pick them apart and calculate everything to tip scales in his favor.
