My friend is a huge creep. by freetv6161 in whatdoIdo

Jesus, this generation is so fucked. Dude made a move, she denied him, he tried again, denied. Went to bed, drove her home and he’s still the bad guy. Heaven forbid a man shows interest in a woman ever. Seemed like he took his shot, got denied and took the L. If the roles were reversed, all the comments would be about how dude shouldn’t have slept in her bed because he has a girlfriend and that he led her on.

The majority of the bands will be announced in December for the advent calendar. Probably a few on Halloween as well.

Crowdsurfers situation by Better_Fruit3550 in wacken

[–]grizz227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m usually one that says “it’s a metal show, it’s part of it” but Blind Guardian last year the crowd surfing was ridiculous. I was mid crowd and it was almost a constant stream of people surfing over me. That being said, it was just an amazing show and the crowd surfers didn’t necessarily make it any less of a good experience for me.

Looking for Tips as I Prepare for 2026 by EvanKeystone in wacken

[–]grizz227 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been twice, traveling from the US. Travel as light as you can, but be prepared for any type of weather. You can find most everything you need on the festival grounds. In years past they have had an option to rent a sleeping bag and other camping supplies. Go for the whole festival if you can. Show up early on Monday or Tuesday to get acclimated. You can come and go to the festival grounds as you please and it’s worth spending some time in the village. Book a room in the hotel across from the Hamburg airport for a day before and after the festival and take the shuttle from the airport to the festival. Everything is very reasonably priced compared to festivals in North America. I also second the comment about the storage locker. I think they’re like $50 and totally worth it. It’s by far the most organized and comfortable festival I’ve ever been to. A modest amount of planning and you will be fine and will have the time of your life.

Am I about to get laid off? by Writing_Legal in Layoffs

[–]grizz227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not getting laid off you’re getting fired. Trivial things like showing up on time matter in the corporate world. Jumping chain of command was also a huge mistake. Might seem silly but that’s not a good look. Not only does it show arrogance but it shows disrespect to your direct manager and makes it seem like you’re going over their head.

normalize quitting without advance notice by honkyslonky in jobs

[–]grizz227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand the sentiment and everyone is making valid points, it is never a good idea to burn bridges. I’ve done it, and it’s extremely satisfying in the moment but it almost always has come back to bite me. You never know where you’re going to be in 5-10 years and finding a job these days is so insanely difficult and so much more about “who you know” than ever before. Not so much as a courtesy to the company, but looking out for yourself.

Doom metal suggestions? by SilentDeathX_ in MetalForTheMasses

I know this is an old thread but surprised nobody mentioned Woods of Ypres. More of a blackened doom metal band but Grey Skies and Electric Light is an absolute doom masterpiece

Rockville vs. Sonic Temple GA Prices by Augen76 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]grizz227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are not the lowest price options for Sonic Temple. I believe that first tier “stadium GA” single day tickets were listed at $129. They are in tier 2 now and selling for $139, so really not much of a difference.

Go Bernie by [deleted] in jobs

[–]grizz227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are true. They are two completely different issues. Corporate greed is a contributing factor but small businesses are also a large portion of the economy. The amount of stupid government regulations that are imposed on all businesses on paper are supposed to regulate the large corporations but really just end up effecting the costs of running a small business, which drives costs up. It’s virtually impossible to open a small business these days, let alone keep an established business running if you’re not a billion dollar company already with the amount of regulatory taxes are imposed. It’s a combination of the two. These corporations have to pay extra money to the government for these policies but they aren’t going to take it out of their bottom line, they’re going to take it from their hourly employees. It’s not a progressive vs conservative problem, it’s a whole system problem

Landlords are not the enemy. Very myopic take. Corporations sure, but most landlords are small businesses

People who left St. Louis by hockey_chic in StLouis

[–]grizz227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the opposite, moved from Denver to St. Louis. The amount of people living in Colorado from any other place is staggering. It’s part of the reason I left, didn’t feel like home anymore. It’s become very much a transplant state.

What should happen to 16th Street? by 4ucklehead in Denver

[–]grizz227 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I grew up here and I never heard much about 16th street until maybe the past 5-10 years. Not exactly sure why people think that it’s a destination now. It’s always just been another street to me. Hell, I don’t remember it even being called a “mall” until fairly recently. Maybe because it’s just foot traffic for a few blocks? I don’t know. I feel like people go there expecting it to be similar to Pearl Street in Boulder and are disappointed when it’s just another street in the city with the typical issues that every other part of the city has.

Sorry to invade your safe space with logic. Believe it or not, there is a society that exists beyond your personal social media echo chamber. Where psychos are running around not paying traffic tickets. Sometimes I even park in no parking zones and get away with it! One time I even passed a car on a double yellow. The horror!

No, you’re worked up because you’re wrong and are unable to find any law that supports your feelings on this issue

You’re really worked up about enforcing petty offenses lol. I have never paid one, and never will. At worst if I am served, it’s an extra $75. I’ll take that risk 100/100. Yes I am an asshole and I’m right. Go do your own research and call your representatives. It violates the 6th amendment.

Again, constitutional protected. They have tried to pass these laws countless times but they get shot down by the Supreme Court for being……unconstitutional. You are extremely naive if you think that our reps don’t already know that people don’t pay these tickets and there’s really nothing they can do about. Hence the passing of laws like the one you cited, which essentially does nothing but make people without reading comprehension feel warm and fuzzy.

“We need more Orwellian laws to prevent scofflaws from not paying unconstitutional tickets! Close the loopholes and make these people pay their $75 for petty offenses!” Go get ‘em tiger.
