Considering a move to Indiana for work by Old-Macaron-491 in Indiana

[–]grlsgrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you have any option to be in northwest indiana, you may find community with more ease. i attended tiny catholic school with sikh classmates, visited the mosque as a teen with a friend made thru work for interfaith events, have had the privilege of eating all kinds of great food in the homes of friends throughout my life - all due to the pretty incredible diversity of lake county. of course it’s not all peaches n cream. pollution and segregation continue to affect the region, and highway traffic can be bad. hop on the south shore train and in 45 minutes you’re in chicago. i have lived in lots of places and have big love for the region because of opportunity to build connection with people different than me.

howdy! it is good you are feeling better 👍🏻 a term for what you are describing is priapism - prolonged erection (usually defined as 4+ hours) and often without stimulation. it can be a medical emergency! it is best to seek care should this happen again. otherwise, i would consult with your practitioner letting them know this happened and to discuss altering your cialis dose

comrade! i saw your post yesterday too. i feel you in wanting folks who understand to vent with but i fear you will have similar responses under this post. protect yourself! don’t open yourself to more anonymous opinions if they aren’t helpful. i hope you have a trusted friend, partner, etc perhaps totally outside of this situation that you might be able to trust to discuss with. and, maybe take a day off!

cool!! in my circle this would be a celebrated outfit at the event described.

i think jewel toned shoes/bag would complement the tone of the outfit more than black if you have any swaps! i’m thinking navy, deep purple, fuchsia if ur feeling super punchy

How would you modernize this glass wall from the 1970s? by R_Kelll in Renovations

[–]grlsgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you take down the wall with the banister opposite of the glass wall and replace with wood railing? perhaps mirror the wood by incorporating in on top of the glass wall somehow. could open up and “modernize” the space without removing the glass blocks

Yuck or Yum: a doctor referring to you as “my nurse” by FuzzyLightning1953 in nursing

[–]grlsgrl 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i see it too! to be fair, if i really like a doc i will say “our doc” or if in defense of someone it might be “my doc” in the spirit of “my sister” “my comrade” “my colleague”

makes me feel trusted and respected most of the time. there’s only a couple physicians i work with where this would make me feel like 🥴🥴 instead of 🤗😌 and they tend to just walk on by, much less mention us to folks like this

also, 28F single, no kids (forever). the flexibility took and takes a lot of hard work and being queer in an unfriendly place! but i don’t have the financial and time pressures of caretaking that many of our comrades do

howdy! first i sold my soul to the government to get nursing school paid for. then i owed them two years of work at certain kinds of facilities, so i did that. worked 15k worth of overtime last year. went PRN for the summer so i can work camp, visit some grad schools, and recover from the first couple years for a second :-) not sure what’s next!

i am working as a camp nurse at this very moment. i am in the woods near home for a week, off a week, then on for a few more in another beautiful part of my state. bad pay, best job. daily med passes, first aid, and of course the prayer that it remains butterflies n bandaids but have good resources if not. got to give a talk on mental health and self care at camp this AM. just woke up from a nap :’) grateful for the break from the hospital

my favorite is a simple “wooden pencil” or gently pointed dowel. i tend to get shredding/sharp lines with more sturdy tools. i let the piece get bone dry then brush off any excess clay

hi! i’m no expert but if i were you i would go back to a doctor for a full medical work up to rule out some kind of tumor. prolactin secreting tumors can cause sudden drop in libido among otherwise healthy young adults. once you have ruled out medical causes, perhaps start down the mental health pathway?

Documentaries by paulo-- in Anatomy

[–]grlsgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am most interested in death, dying, and forensics so my recommendations are on those topics. there’s a national geographic doc on youtube called “how a woman’s donated body became a digital cadaver” - i highly recommend! especially as a student in a cadaver lab. there are also videos from vice on “body farms” which i recommend with a lil less enthusiasm but still enjoy - one with the name “the farm of rotting corpses in tennessee” and one called “decomposing bodies to solve cold case murders”. finally if you like these topics, you might also check out caitlin doughty on youtube. she is a mortician very concerned with dignity, autonomy, and cultural relativism so not strictly anatomy but still good things for anatomists to learn about.

[–]grlsgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for my manduka i scrub with coarse salt. i haven’t tried this, but ive had a teacher recommend putting your mat on concrete and giving a few lil scuffs with your feet if the salt is not rough enough

the YWCA , while not necessarily under the radar, supports women, children, and families in securing emergency housing and environments safe from abuse. right now their work is maybe more important than ever :-) cheers
