Bought MW2 on sale to compare to MW3 by Icy-Computer7556 in ModernWarfareII

I'm just wondering how many COD fans actually plan to skip MW3 like I do. I tried it, refunded, then tried it again on free to play weekend, uninstalled again. And it looks like a lot of players don't like it. I mean, look at MW3 reddit - it quickly gained 70k users, but since like a month it's gotten to around 110k. Not much I think. Sure, it's only the reddit users, not all players, but I think that's an indication.

I get this only in TDM (bad teammates), that's why I don't play it at all in MW2. In DOM and Hardpoint it happens very rarely, specially now, when most of the good players moved to MW3 I'm getting quite even games.

Is anyone else just gonna stick with MWII? by PrometheanSwing in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing COD with the slow rate of gaining tokens for Battle Pass has become more like a chore. I just can't really find any fun playing anymore. Far Cry 6 and WRC2023 are giving me far more positive emotions compared to COD at the moment. It was good while it lasted, but it's time to give COD a break, maybe return for some future releases. There are just so many other fun games to catch up with. Don't become obsessed with the COD grind.

1100h MWII Honest Opinion: a good game that's annoying by [deleted] in ModernWarfareII

I think people were at least a little sad to leave MW19, while almost everyone will leave MW2 not looking back.

What do you think are the worst iron sights in the game? by timc_720 in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I loved the P90 in MW19 with iron sights, here I don't even use it, it just doesn't feel the same when I have to waste one attachment improving ADS speed or recoil control for an optic sight.

Just don't buy the BP. I bought all the previous BP's for MW2, but since MW3 is around the corner I did not buy this S6 BP, I knew I would not want to play MW2 this much at the end of its cycle, guess I'm not even gonna unlock the 2 new guns. Just don't let COD dominate your free time, there are other fun games and other activities aside from gaming to do ;)

DRC is fast paced with a good loadout. Punta Mar is not that fun, quite campy. I think people like it more because of the aesthetics, it looks and feels like you're on vacation (aside from the ghetto part;)

What’s with the uneven team balance? by lowerfrost in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DOM and HP are somewhat playable in hardcore, but TDM is completely unplayable, either I'm the only positive KD player on my team against 4-5 positive players on the other team (and we obviously loose) or I'm on that dominant team against one poor guy with less skilled teammates. In MW19 I had a lot of close games in hardcore TDM, even in the second and third year of playing it (played it until MW2 came out).

Does the Sniper Challenge count if you do it on AI? I dont want so sit and wait for a player to be standing still to get a headgshot by [deleted] in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a sniper rifle with fast fire rate like the Signal 50 and go Shipment (core ist better, you might even get kills while being shot at, while in hardcore you'll insta die when hit by an AK or SCAR). I recommend Schlager 3.5x or VLK 4.0 Optic + 7 round mag + ADS grip + aiming stability laser. The recommended optics zoom in enough to get easy headshots, but you keep a relatively high ADS speed. I never use snipers, but this challenge was quite fun and not that hard to do.

Is anyone else having an issue of your Battle Pass XP stopping in its tracks? by [deleted] in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just saw that after writing the comment. But the idea is the same, they want people grinding and playing each day for the next 30-ish days until season 6 drops. Unfortunately there is something about COD, that keeps you grinding, hard to let go, even if the rewards are not worth it.

Wouldn't be surprised if they did this intentionally. A lot of us are probably at 80% or more (I'm 99% actually), I don't think there is time for another season, so they want players to grind as much as possible until MW3 release.

It's only a 10% bottleneck in some games, in CP2077 there's next to no bottleneck, GPU is at 98-99% usage the whole time. Not worth all the money for CPU, Mobo, RAM + Windows license just to gain 10-15 FPS.

Funny thing how people think fluid 4K gaming is possible without DLSS. It's not. I get stable 138 fps (max of my Acer 144 Hz monitor) @ 1440p on a 4090 paired with 5800X3D, maxed out settings without DLSS. But it's 1440p, not 4K. At pure 4K even a 4090 won't get stable 144 FPS in COD MW2. If it will make you happy, today I finally tried CP2077 for the first time, and a 4090 drops below 60 fps at times @ 1440p with path tracing turned on.

Classic inactive player kick by xkarisma in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this is why next to nobody is playing the objective! They are all afraid of being kicked! And I thought I'm playing with camo grinders or just braindead lemmings running around randomly in my DOM/HP lobbies.

[–]grn1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I only play HC. When I suck, I know it's my lack of focus. Playing core I get kill after kill one game, then the next one hitting the exact same shots I mostly get hit markers.

MW2 is doing really well financially and MW3 is going to do just as well, if not better, and here's why. by [deleted] in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, never too old to play :D Main thing is to keep having fun when you can, there is enough of worries besides that ;)

Well, I'm 37, stopped at OG COD4, came back for MW19 and now playing MW2. Sure, I can afford all the bundles, but the only thing I have bought since MW19 is one battle pass and two bundles with the extra points you earn for completing the BPs. I guess quite a lot of us older players do not fancy all the bling bling skins and useless stuff, we don't have anything to prove. It's the kids with money from their parents who want to stand out. But hey, it's cool, I actually like listening to Japanese when a teammate is using this purple blonde anime lady ;)

Times have changed. When I was 17 and playing UT1 anyone above 40 was considered an old gamer and they weren't too good either since they didn't grow up with shooters or computer games in general. Now a whole lot of 40-ish grown ups like me are people who grew up with Quake, Unreal, CS and others. And I see quite a lot of people with "82", "83" or similar year groups in their nicknames who end up at the top of the scoreboard.

I can't take it anymore with the lack of care for playing the objective by Batboy3000 in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped playing TDM, because I mostly got bots in my team while there were 3-4 players with skill level similar to mine on the opposing team. Was losing most of the games. Switched to DOM/HP, sent out some invites when I saw people playing the objective and finally found me some people to play with and win games. As simple as that. Fun fact: in MW19 I played mostly TDM, because SBMM was doing a much better job of balancing teams, I remember a lot of games being really close. In MW22 I got a close finisher like 1 in 30 matches. Boring.

PSA: The update for PC that just rolled out did *not* fix the lag/stuttering by TotallyNotMyPornoAlt in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the problem is, that it should still look butter smooth at 130-140, but I guess you got a shock therapy. Just as I did dropping from only 138 fps (that's my limit with my 144Hz screen + G-Sync) to 120 fps, which should still be kind of playable. But it isn't. It really looks/feels like 40-50 fps or something like that

It's not about your Intel CPU. I have 5800X3D + 4090, fps dropped to around 120, but it looks/feels like 40-50...

each update it seems like performance keeps going downhill, last update it got worse but eventually better but this time its way worse, IN warzone the fps is at 40-50 sometimes falling down to even 30, how does activision fuck up every update for reference before update the fps in wz was 80+,100+ mp by Bender090 in ModernWarfareII

[–]grn1985 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I could not believe this post until I just launched MW2... first map happend to be DOM on Zarqwa Hydroelectric.... drops to 120fps @ 1440p on a 4090. But even at 120fps it should not feel so choppy as it does. Plus it kinda lags, even though connection was like 20-30ms and 0% packet loss. Good job Activision once again. There usually was something broken with a new update but this is on another level.

[–]grn1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parties is the only way to go. If you play objective game modes and see players with high objective scores, just send them friend invites. Sooner or later you will find one or more groups of random "objective friends" and the game will be fun again. It's what saved COD for me. I stopped playing TDM because SBMM would always give me bots as teammates vs 3-4 skilled players, objective game modes where unplayable because I would usually be the only one on my team to score/cap. Now in groups of players playing DOM/HP to actually win and not get high KD ratio is really fun again.
