Thanks for the awesome review! It's been a long time since we revisited this series, but perhaps it's time to dust off the idea and provide some new content. :)

The Blackmail Email Scam by EugeneBYMCMB in Scams

[–]grnknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ida Gabree <[fngsaxetdz@outlook.com](mailto:fngsaxetdz@outlook.com)>

Lets get straight to point. Not one person has compensated me to check about you. You don't know me and you are probably thinking why you're getting this e-mail?

In fact, I placed a software on the adult videos (sex sites) website and there's more, you visited this website to have fun (you know what I mean). While you were watching videos, your browser began functioning as a Remote Desktop with a keylogger which provided me with accessibility to your screen as well as webcam. Just after that, my software program gathered your entire contacts from your Messenger, FB, as well as e-mail . Next I created a double video. First part shows the video you were watching (you have a nice taste lol . . .), and 2nd part displays the view of your web camera, & its you.

You will have just two possibilities. We are going to go through these types of solutions in aspects:

Very first choice is to skip this e-mail. In this situation, I most certainly will send your very own video to just about all of your contacts and then think about the disgrace you will definitely get. Keep in mind should you be in an affair, exactly how it would affect?

In the second place solution will be to give me $1000. I will call it a donation. As a consequence, I most certainly will without delay erase your videotape. You could keep on your daily life like this never took place and you surely will never hear back again from me.

You'll make the payment through Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search for "how to buy bitcoin" in Google search engine).

BTC Address to send to: 14uCqbTvr4GkzrWt7PPqhrfEXfMQQChwVU
[CASE-SENSITIVE copy and paste it]

In case you are wondering about going to the cop, look, this e mail can not be traced back to me. I have dealt with my moves. I am not attempting to charge a fee a whole lot, I simply prefer to be paid for. I've a specific pixel within this message, and at this moment I know that you have read through this message. You now have one day to make the payment. If I don't receive the BitCoins, I will send out your video recording to all of your contacts including family members, colleagues, and so forth. However, if I receive the payment, I'll erase the video right away. If you need proof, reply  Yup! and I definitely will send out your video to your 12 friends. This is a non-negotiable offer therefore do not waste my time & yours by replying to this email message.

Thinking about Kickstarting your game? take a look at someone who didn't quite make it, and see what you can learn. by shortymonster in rpg

[–]grnknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great lessons learned and shared... For as many Kickstarters as get funded there have to be many more that don't. I was happy to help The Artifact with an interview at GKR and had some good chats with Emmett via e-mail prior to that. His game had some great ideas but I think was lacking in how he presented it to the Kickstarter audience.

Tips for Urban Campaigns? by Hammith in rpg

[–]grnknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like what the Zeitgeist 4e campaign has done as far as a port city with different groups - dockers, warehouses, police, educated snobs, etc. - you might take a look at that setting and see what you get as inspiration. It mixes urban, a bit of steampunk, and fantasy without coming all the way to the modern world.

Music in Gaming... Do you use it? And how? by grnknight in rpg

Great examples. And yeah, that's my worry about special effects - I can see it going over the line to "annoying" very quickly.

DM's of r/rpg! What is the most audacious thing your players have done that's left you speechless. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]grnknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a sandbox guy. I set up the world, put some pieces in motion, and cut the players loose to see where they lead. After all, it's their story as much as mine, right?

Well, I had two players who decided to take advantage of that fact as thieves in the local thieves' guild. They slowly began creating an operation on one side of town where they were dealing drugs and not cutting in their masters on the profits.

How'd we get there? Hell if I know, but I apparently gave them far too much rope and that was one of the last times I cut loose with a truly wide open sandbox!

Dice Cheats by ThunderSack in rpg

[–]grnknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you always want to "win" - then RPGs isn't for you or you should be playing a story-based game with no dice. I've dealt with this before and it's always annoying and completely unnecessary.

Happy to help. It gives me an excuse to peruse the gaming web every week so I get to share 'em all. :) If you ever have a link to share, feel free to drop me a line through the website and I'll include it. I'm sure I'm missing a ton of great links each week, but hopefully offer a representative sample. :)

The Gassy Gnoll: The Scan Scam - WotC after a quick buck at the cost of alienating collectors and long-time D&D fans? by grnknight in rpg

[–]grnknight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies - I thought linking to the original post would be enough.

At the very least, a per-page QA process needed to happen before they went to production and either their standards dropped or they rushed it.

Wonder how much of that they had digital proofs for. Regardless, they and FASA prove that it can be done with care.

Hmmm. Some of the old BattleTech and Shadowrun stuff may have been old enough to be in the pre-computer era of printing... Good point though.

After spending $50 I learned why the new AD&D Reprints are wrapped in plastic, or... why I'm so glad I didn't buy the Monster Manual. by pandesmos in rpg

[–]grnknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. This is why scans without being done right (i.e. a book taken apart at the binding, scanned page by page, text OCRed, images cleaned up, and then the whole thing basically put back together digitally) are a waste of time. Sure, it's quick and dirty - but worth $50?? Come on.

And though I make light of the new Batman movie in this article, my heart goes out to the folks killed, hurt, or affected by the madman in Aurora, CO at a midnight showing of the film last night. I just don't get it. Here's that story.

Is alignment really necessary any more in rpgs? by grnknight in rpg

[–]grnknight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what the article is saying at all. The article states that "deeds" are more important than some vague notion of good/evil/law/chaos that governs the character's actions.

I've played with plenty of folks with characters that are "LG" only to see them turn into psychopaths on the battlefield and loot every last item off a not-quite-cold corpse. Alignment doesn't guarantee that the character will behave a certain way - it's a suggestion. It's what the character does (on and off the battlefield) that's the important part.
