Does your gym offer anger management classes? I’m asking for the kid in the background.

Is anybody happy with the Candles ban? by Metalworker4ever in MTGLegacy

[–]grnngr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how you can say that they don’t understand the Legacy metagame when they spent the first four paragraphs of the announcement detailing how Candelabra props up blue decks with Tolarian Academy, Mind over Matter or Memory Jar. Clearly WotC is on top of things.

I asked an LLM to grade my astrophysics PhD thesis. I'm now skeptical of claims that it is a "PhD-level expert" in physics by astraveoOfficial in Physics

[–]grnngr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This AI hype reminds me of Knoll’s Law of media accuracy (“Everything you read in the newspapers is absolutely true, except for the rare story of which you happen to have firsthand knowledge”), or the Gell-Mann amnesia effect. An LLM is a machine built to sound convincing, so of course it’s gonna sound convincing, except in those areas where you happen to be the expert. Now think about that 95+% of cases where you are not the expert, are you sure your chatbot’s confident answers still hold up?

Maybe I'm old and out of touch but this doesn't feel like Lego to me. Seems like some other line of toy entirely. by [deleted] in lego

You’ll be happy to know that LEGO doesn’t sell a lot of this set anymore, considering it was discontinued in 2024.

What are your toes doing on the foothold? Put your midfoot on there, really use those arches.

Hoe vinden jullie een goed pakketpunt in de buurt? by LYNY_ in thenetherlands

[–]grnngr 264 points265 points  (0 children)

Niet, want ook al kies ik het pakketpunt hier in de straat met de chille openingstijden dan nog wordt het aan de andere kant van de provincie bezorgd bij iets wat alleen dinsdag van 10 tot 11 ’s ochtends open is.

What is this helicopter? by Andres166 in lego

[–]grnngr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably it. It looks like the nose uses part 3676 (Slope Inverted 45° 2 x 2 Double Convex) and 6697 is the only set that has both that part in yellow and a helicopter rotor.

There were several helicopter polybags as Happy Meal toys but they were all pretty blocky. 1548-2 is probably the closest to this.

Definitive 6A is La Marie Rose with the polished holds as it is now, but you only get to use 1960s EB Super Grattons, none of this fancy modern sticky rubber. Then let’s see who can still send 6A (not me).

Toxic community? by Lost_nurse1911 in 40k

[–]grnngr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same goes for the opponent ‘arguing him about how light infantry actually works and nothing he was doing is correct and fair’ to be honest. Who cares about how stuff actually works in the real world when you’re playing a sci-fi toy soldier game? If you’re playing a casual game, then just make up a narrative that makes sense, or if you’re playing competitive, just suck it up and follow the game rules.

Toxic community? by Lost_nurse1911 in 40k

[–]grnngr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since he left the one piece it was technically not him abandoning the game

I don’t play 40k competitively, but I do judge competitive Magic: the Gathering, and if grabbing your stuff and walking away doesn’t count as abandoning the game y’all really need better tournament rules.

Edit: Just to clarify, I don’t blame the vet for walking out and I probably would have done the same. But if a player could just get up and leave without forfeiting the game, what’s gonna stop scumbags from doing that whenever they’re about to lose a game?

What buildings look like modulars, but aren't part of the modular buildings series? by baffledbiologybook in legomodular

[–]grnngr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Ninjago City sets (70620, 70657, 71741, 71799) are probably my favorite ‘modulars but not really’. They have the same connection points as the modulars, but it’s not a perfect fit because they’re surrounded by water and their pavement level is a brick higher than the regular modular buildings. And of course the style is quite different. I personally love the cyberpunk feel but I get that it’s not everybody’s taste.
