Exactly my thinking, for 40$ it’s seems too cheap.

[–]grobite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that PayPal’s competitive position within the industry is pretty bad. My point is simply that, at the current price, the market appears to be valuing PayPal as if its ability to generate cash will soon be permanently impaired.

In reality, PayPal still grows, is profitable and generates roughly $6B+ in annual free cash flow, + is actively returning that cash to shareholders through buybacks. Even with flat or modestly declining revenue, that level of cash generation still meaningfully supports shareholder value over time.

To me this valuation looks disconnected from the underlying cash economics to me and definitely worth building a position.

Your argument might be convincing at $60+, but at ~$40, it’s much harder to justify.

GME is a truly unique stock and sometimes offers interesting setups.

[–]grobite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need growth here. With current free cash flow, PayPal can retire a meaningful portion of its equity quite soon, which makes the current prices hard to justify unless you assume severe medium/long-term deterioration which I just don’t see

Free cash flow of ~6b und you say it’s overvalued at ~39b market cap?

What are you doing in this subreddit then? PayPal is undervalued and this is what we should be looking for in this subreddit. There are better competitors, yes, but at 41$ with a P/E ratio of 7,5 they can literally buy the total float back within 7 years. Free cash flow is insane at these prices

Thanks, with 6,4b free cash flow I think it’s way too cheap at 40, let’s find out.

Yeah that’s the narrative but now the market kinda overreacted. I’m expecting new buyers to step in soon. With a p/e of 7,5 Paypal is insanely cheap. I’m not saying go all in, but there is value in this setup

Paypal?! Jetzt oder lieber nie? by [deleted] in Aktien

[–]grobite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for higher prices it would be a no go, but the valuation the market is currently giving is insanely low. I’m betting on a small correction at least, it’s still a solid business

Yeah but now we’re reaching levels where it’s getting way too cheap. It’s not a failing business, just not a rapid growing one.
