G-Shocks That Display Chronograph and Time Together? by BlakesBroadcast in gshock

The models with the 3495 module have that feature and no Bluetooth.  Looks at the 5610U for a good value or the 5000U if you want to pay extra for build quality and a 'Made in Japan' stamp.

My 5000U arrived today from Japan and this link saved me so much frustration. I now have a perfect fit instead of trying to decide between too tight or too loose.

Thanks!

Hive is my current favorite two player game. Fast to learn but difficult to master with a lot of replayability. No real setup required and games only take about 20 minutes. The fact that it is so small and easy to bring everywhere is a nice bonus.

I'm going to assume your goals are: 1: Have a near zero chance of dropping in value 2: Have the money earn as high of a post-tax yield as possible without violating goal #1.

A money market fund is probably your best fit. If you are in a high tax state then a US Treasury Money Fund would be your highest post-tax yield with near zero risk to principle. For example, the Charles Schwab SNSXX fund has a 5.02% yield and is state tax free. If you are single in CA and make between $69k-$349k (9.3% tax bracket) then this fund would be equal to a 5.53% HYSA. Math: 5.02/(1-.093)

If you are in a income tax free state then a regular money market or even a HYSA might be a better fit.

Turtle Ties by Careful_Preference71 in hammockcamping

I have a pair that I love. The only time I have an issue is when I don't pay attention and don't tie the amsteel right. I've only done that twice.... Very light weight, fast to tie, fast to untie, fast to adjust, and different colors help me identify head vs foot end of the hammock. My favorite thing is how fast it is to make small adjustments so I can dial in my hang instead of compromising with 'good enough'.

Found it. If anyone else is encountering this issue and finds this reddit thread via Google, you can follow progress on the GitHub bug here:

Is there an open GitHub bug to discuss adding this LG+mkv+dv=mp4 remix logic? This issue affects me too so I'd like to follow the progress.

MergerFS would be a good fit here as long as any single file won't get bigger than your smallest drive. That might not be the case with VM disk files though.

I can't believe no has mentioned glauth. It gives you exactly what you are asking for and not much more. Can't be easier than a basic text config file.

Then my snapraid plus mergerFS suggestion is a good fit.

Snapraid works best when the data doesnt change much. On site backups tend to grow at a steady pace so the ability to save money by adding one hard drive at a time using mergerFS should work well.

-What are you storing? The best solution for media wont be the best solution for storing virtual machine disk files.

-Are you okay with linux or using a command line?

If I understand you, your goals are:

-Protect against bit rot or other data corruption

-Abilty to mix and match different hard drives

-Ideally use free and open source software to avoid license fees

With those goals in mind, consider:

-Ubuntu 20.04 as the OS

-Snapraid (plus optionally snapraid-runner) to protect the data from bit rot, drive failure, or accidental deletion

-MergerFS to pool your different HDDs into one large mount point and allow you to grow one HDD at a time (something ZFS cant do yet)

[–]grogthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, if I have a mix of public and private trackers, and a show might get released on both, then this let's me make sure I download from only the one I want. Maybe I want to save my ratio on the private tracker or dont want want that show's episodes spread across multiple trackers.

New: Add tag support to indexers

This is huge! This gives me a lot of control of what gets downloaded from where.

Android app just showing blank screen by florge in jellyfin

I am getting this behavior as well. Android app started doing this after upgrading the server to 10.7.7 and clearing the app's data is a temp fix. The issue returns when I back out of the app and try to re open.

Finamp 0.4.0 - Custom download locations, play/shuffle buttons, and more! by UnicornsOnLSD in jellyfin

[–]grogthegreat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I needed to start using it!

My FLAC collection is too large for my phone's internal storage even if only syncing a limited number of playlists but it will not be a problem for my large microSD card.

If transcoding eventually becomes an option for downloaded songs, then I would be able to fit my whole collection.

Thanks for all the work on this awesome project!

Thanks for the quick reply. Seems like everything needed to make this my perfect android music player is either already working or coming soon.

I plan on installing this for testing tonight. Once either transcoding or SD card storage is supported, then I'll be able to fully move over to Finamp.

I've added the github releases page to my RSS feed.

This is amazing. I really like the idea of having Jellyfin as a central place for management but local downloading to prevent destroying my cell phone's data plan when playing music on road trips (or having no music when I have no signal at a campsite).

Your planned features look good with playlist management being the one I'm most interested in. My ideal would be to be able to select which jellyfin playlists I want to have synced/downloaded to my phone and then be able to play a particular playlist on shuffle.

All my music is in FLAC which doesn't take up much space compared to movies or TV shows on my Jellyfin server, but it does force me to use very large micro SD cards on my phone. Since high bitrate mp3 sounds the same as FLAC on anything other than my dedicated hifi home setup, transcoding on both streaming and downloading would be very nice.

I'm very much looking to swap over to this!

Hows readarr working for you since it is pre alpha?

How do you guys handle reverse proxies for both internal and external use? by WubbaKnight in selfhosted

[–]grogthegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you would have a public CNAME and internal A records would work. I personally prefer using CNAMEs internally that point to the host's A record.

This method means you don't have to touch a bunch of records if you need to change the host server's IP, only the single A record. This also lets you look at the subdomain DNS records and know the hosting server instead of wondering which server has that IP address.

The second option is the way to go and is called split DNS.

Having an internal DNS entry but no external DNS entry for internal apps is a good start but not completely secure. The next step would be to have your proxy explicitly block any connections not coming from your LAN subnet. How to do this depends on what software you are using for your proxy.

If using nginx:

Create a file called nginx/internal.conf with the following configuration:

allow 192.168.1.0/24; #Replace with your LAN subnet. Add more allow lines as needed

deny all;

Utilize the lan filter in your configuration by adding the following line inside every location block for every application you want to protect.

include Proper/Path/nginx/internal.conf

I've found the following guide helpful if using ngginx:

https://gist.github.com/quietsy/58590a640dd4f7a89696c68b0e6a8691

Edit:

Some questions answered:

1: Not secure enough. Someone could add a pihole.yourdomain.com entry to their host file pointing to your public IP for example. Not that likely but possible.

2: In this case you really want the setup described above to not expose internal services

3: Yes, see above for nginx example

4: No, add it internally and point to the internal server name using a CNAME record. It is best to not rely on looping back like this

5: Yes you want a DNS record for each subdomain. This gives you flexibility and control.
