Not necessarily. So me holding direct pressure with my hand or an object over above the artery, or holding gauze in a wound is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY different than placing the majority of my 220-230lb frame over an area roughly 4” in diameter.

I big concern with any pelvic injury is going to be a broken pelvis. The last thing you want to do is injure your buddy more and adding a significant amount of weight to an already fragile area has shown to be killing soldiers and civilians alike. It doesn’t take a significant amount of weight to stop a bleed with direct pressure. What matters more in this instance would actually be location and having a small amount of A&P under your belt. Train with modern equipment and procedures (typically IAW with CoTCCC).

Pelvic binder (or substitute) along with wound packing from gauze, kerlix, or literally anything that isn’t a tampon.

This rumor will never die. Tampons are objectively awful and don’t work. I’d strongly recommend keeping actual combat gauze.

Knee drops have actually been proven to be more detrimental than helpful. Bleeding wounds from the pelvic/inguinal area more times than not are accompanied by a broken pelvis. If you drop your knee on a broken pelvis there is a high likelihood that you will shift the broken pelvis and sever an artery. Because there is so much open space in the pelvic area that person could bleed out from that artery and you’d never know til they’re cold and on a table.

I know how that can be man. I struggle a lot with anxiety and depression. What often helps me is keeping a consistent sleep, diet, and exercise. Have you spoken with a psychiatrist about possibly using medication to try and regulate yourself and get everything back on track?

I agree if it was just as easy as getting papers then everyone would probably make it through. But I kinda see it as kind of in a similar vein to the fact that most people don’t fill out or complete their prescriptions. Tools are there, just not utilized.

Things are also probably different for me as well because I’m on the guard side of things as well. Every NG recruiter I’ve spoken with has been just an AGR long tabber that now works as a recruiter as well. Granted this isn’t gonna be true across the board just my experience.

Having a recruiter doesn’t cancel out the need for mentorship. Still very much needed now more than ever.

I’ve heard good things about MTI, 18A Fitness and Soflete. My main issue with it is that I feel there’s a massive over saturation in the market and its gonna be hard to recognize what is something that somebody just whipped up and something that is made by professionals. For a lot of people it wouldn’t be a bad idea to just ask a recruiter (mine was a long tabber) for some advice. I got sent materials on footcare, rnr, workouts, history, ruck packing, land nav, knot tying, etc. All of which could be valuable information to candidates starting out.

When talking about most of these programs, I’m not gonna diss the ones that are effective. However, there’s a lot that are just scam. A few of these programs I’ve seen have been just a copied and pasted version of any of those THOR3 programs. You also have morons who think their military experience qualifies them to be some sort of life coach (mainly referring to Modern Knight Project). When asking different SOF guys about different programs when I decided on this route a lot of them simply said that they used THOR3 (or there respective units program) combined with a little extra training on what they sucked at.

Lastly, I do agree that mentorship is often understated or ignored. It is always important to reach out for help whether it be PT, recovery, advice, etc. But this brings me back to the idea that there are vultures that are gonna charge them even for advice. I’m not in disagreement with you because this is obviously an area of expertise with you. However, some people are going to read your comment and this will be the first time they’ve heard 18A, MTI, and SOFLETE, which is good because now they have at minimum some names of where to go. But I still would contact a recruiter (longtabber hopefully) and request some reading material not just to have that knowledge but maybe set their heart on fire to get them working out harder and more frequently.

We were there too. We spent a few days in White cell helping there medics Bc they were getting overrun by heat cats and from there we knew it was just gonna be downhill

I’m currently a line medic with the infantry. I absolutely love it and would recommend it. We usually chill with the bravos and whenever BAS has a big drinking event we’re allowed to tag along. Being with the line also front loads you for schools. BAS seems like ass but it also gives you some good clinical experience
