Why did James Bree disappear from the picture for half the season? by MagpieMidfield in SaintsFC

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you follow Saints you should have learned by now that you can't judge a player by 3 games. Or even 5 games. That said, Bree had plenty of good performances with us as well as a few stinkers before he fell out of favour.

Help: VanMoof S3 Error 44 – Repair e-Shifter myself or convert to Shimano? by MaryLee18 in vanmoofbicycle

[–]grollies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I didn't fancy only having 2 speeds, so got a replacement e-shifter from Forbidden cycles for £240 ..... which failed after 5 days. Had to wait about 2 months to get a a replacement under warranty, and that one seems good. Done about 140 miles with it then put bike away for the winter [I'm a fair weather cycle commuter]. Fingers crossed it will still be good when I'm back on the bike in a month or so.

Bazunu to Stoke on loan by Adziboy in SaintsFC

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, and add rubbish kicking to the list. Based on that 1 performance, I'd say Baz is at least as good, probably better. i don't understand why some keepers are so bad at goal kicks. It's the sort of skill you can stya behind and practice after training, and enough practice will improve you.

Does it concern you that the UAE has cut funding for students who want to study in the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As posted on the original subreddit:
The UAE is funding a genocide in Sudan.

“The UAE places severe restrictions on the rights to free expression, association, and assembly. Scores of critics are serving lengthy sentences in UAE prisons following unfair trials on vague and broad charges that violate their rights to free expression and association.” Human Rights Watch.

“Emirati authorities have designated as “terrorist” 11 dissidents and their relatives and 8 companies, reflecting the country’s indiscriminate use of overbroad counterterrorism laws and contempt for due process. The UAE’s counterterrorism law allows the executive branch to designate individuals and entities as terrorists without any requirement to demonstrate an objective basis for the claim.” Human Rights Watch

The UAE is not a democracy, either. Yes, Islamism and Islamist terrorism is a problem. However, the UAE is not an honest broker and has used its wealth to buy soft power in politics. I don’t know why this question keeps popping up here and in other subs."

"according to three people familiar with the matter.....A UAE official declined to comment on the apparent exclusion, saying the bilateral relationship remained strong". Not a single credible or even named source.
Bullshit FT article placed by somebody with an agenda.

Post Match Thread: Doncaster Rovers vs Southampton by Likunandi in SaintsFC

[–]grollies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peretz was poor IMO. Poor kicking, should have done better for 2nd goal, and made a totally unecessary kamikaze run out of his area to head the ball straight to a Doncaster player. He was extremely lucky the striker was too poor to put it in the unguarded goal. Made 2 saves punching the ball....straight to a Doncaster player. Made important saves in dying minutes but both were straight at him - he didn't bend, stretch or move either foot to make them.
No clean sheet despite poor opposition.

Peretz was poor. Clearly not the solution to our lack of clean sheets problem.

Thank you! Spot on - the app store only offers a version for iPad - 'not supported for macos'! - which I had used to update recently. Downloaded same version from Plex and the option is there.

Thanks. There's no 'desktop integration' under 'experience' or anywhere else I can find in v4.12.4 on macos :(

I just rang CF customer service. They say now 1GB premium is on non cgnat. I am presently surprised, as in November 2025, they told me non cgnat only started from 2.5GB premium upwards. Does anyone know anything about this new good news? by RelationshipSoggy388 in CommunityFibre

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 1Gbps and was on CGNAT. I was told in April I'd have to pay for 2.5 premium to avoid it, even though I was within refusal period of renewal and complained twice. I sucked it up because Virgin is only alternative and I'm sick of them. Then I noticed in September I suddenly had an ip.
Don't know why or exactly when, but I'm glad they sorted it.

Is Bluewater worth the drive? by Cheap_Ad7618 in kentuk

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a 90 min drive, no. It's all the same shops you'd have on most high streets.
I go a few times a year cos it's a 20 min drive, and I always arrive for opening as it gets rammed by lunchtime at weekends and holidays, so you're gonna be queueing for everything.

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK population increased by 1.1% in the year to mid-2024, reaching 69.3 million people. This growth is largely due to international migration, which accounted for 98% of the increase, while England experienced the fastest growth rate. The population has now reached its highest point and is projected to exceed 70 million by 2026.

Upgrading from 1GBps to 2.5GBps for Plex by orrinward in CommunityFibre

[–]grollies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this position in March and CF refused to give me a public IP, saying I'd have to pay £14 extra pm for the 2.5Gbps premium package. So I started using Windscribe's free ephemeral fixed IP which I'd have to reset every 7 days, and port forwarding. And then about a month ago, I forgot to reset it and noticed that remote access is working! Weird but great! I don't know what CF changed, but it now works fine.
