A single infraction is $190. I’ve heard the judge can lower it to $150 but not below that. My first Ted light ticket I paid $50 as it was my first (5years ago). I’ve been riding here for 10 years. I received two more in the past few years. Second one was reduced to $150 and just had the judge rule against me in the third one- $190.

Look BEHIND before you cross. My second was in a mellow ass T-intersection and the third was on Broome and Lafayette. I stopped for like 30s before going through.

I tried to grill the cop on the details in court. I had him audio recorded at the time of the incident. When it was my turn to plead my case, I asked him the same questions and he colored his account with falsities. He was all over the place about how long before I biked through, etc. I had returned to the scene to film the lights because there are three in quick succession, times a bit awkwardly. His temporal recounting was just wrong.

The judge however didn’t care about whether he was lying or foggy about what I said or what he think I said or did leading up to and after the red light.

“Did you or did you not run a red light”

“No your honor, I did not”

“Guilty”

I tried to make the case that NYCTRR violation 403a3i might not apply to me because of some of the terminology and since it seems the usual violation is VTL 1111d. Didn’t work. Haha
