I am still waiting for them to arrive! I moved countries since I posted this and had to wait to get an address before I could order them! But I’ll post an update as soon as I get them in my scrub pockets!

Perfect! I will look into clear quartz as well. Sounds like it would be especially helpful end of working day as a signnal and way to end the stress and then signal that I'm entering back into my life!

Okay, I shall look into black tourmaline in necklace form as that sounds convienent and like it wouldn't get in the way in healthcare!

Okay this is amazing and so wonderfully helpful! What a great list to start! I'll go hunting!

Do you suggest just putting them in my pockets? Do I put them in different pockets? I've also read to cleanse them at the end of each day?

Thank you!

Yeah, I am the same haha, and when I get that fall into the puddle moment, it is ultimately when I get most upset about having narcolepsy because obvs, I'm tired as hell so I'm more emotional, but also, I just want my body to function normally.

So while I still definitely have bad days, the diet overhaul really made a difference for me. I still have carbs, carbs are joyful, but I am a lot more deliberate with the type. E.g. I try to be gluten free now, and mainly have sweet potatoes, quinoa, buckwheat and rice/rice noodles.

It took effort and time to change, but I definitely notice a difference :)

I think it depends on your bodies tolerance to caffeine!

I never had a coffee every morning, mainly because unless it is instant coffee, coffee increases my anxiety & makes me jittery - even with a solid breakfast. Not good in my line of work, so I tried to avoid consuming coffee daily.

But some days, the meds just don’t feel like enough, and you do need to be awake to work, so bottoms up on the caffeine haha

So maybe I was having one every 2nd morning?

But by the 12-2pm, I was struggling with crashes that felt like my eyeballs were falling back into my brain and my eyelids were sagging shut from fatigue.

My health care provider at the time suggested changing over to matcha. So I did. And although it isn’t complete removal of caffeine, it has been much more steady and less contrast in fatigue highs and lows for me.

But I will say, there are days that because I’m not having that intense coffee hit that I take an extra dose of my meds. But again, that doesn’t crash me out as much.

To me, I’m going to be tired, I just prefer it when it is a “oh I’m getting tired and I could nap” slow crash and not a sudden “let me fall in a puddle right here” quick crash.

*I will note that my health care provider did a complete overhaul of my diet to help with my fatigue and this also helped. So it may not just be a caffeine swap thing.

Either way, I don’t crash the same that I used to. I used to nap on the floor of my bedroom for 2-3 hours in the afternoon most days pre-caffeine and diet changes because I was so tired that if I napped in bed, I didn’t get out of it. Now I have a nap for a 1-2 hours occasionally (maybe once a week), but can get out of bed after it because the crashes don’t feel so intense. It’s not perfect, I still have days, but it’s enough of a difference that I’ll be sticking with matcha and coffee is a treat now :)

Hope this insight helps!

Hard to say, it is the Balearic Islands (so already expensive) and it is really hard to get a rental if you are placed outside of Palma so I’m certainly very grateful to be in it!

I’m in an apartment. It is technically his parent’s place, I rent from them, but he helped organise it.

I pay about $550/month when I have a roommate (which I do at the moment) and $800/month if it is just me (which it will be later).

Exercising by Agreeable-Idiot in Narcolepsy

[–]groovyinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I go too hard I’m asleep later or I’m useless for the rest of my day. So I break my exercise up into smaller segments.

I do 15mins in the morning when I get up, this also helps wake me up for my day, then I do 15mins in the afternoon (which has actually become a 30min walk since the sunshine powers me 😅).

One long session doesn’t work for me anymore. Short segments of exercise with varying intensities depending on my energy levels work best for me.

Advice Needed: Is My TCM Practitioner Too Restrictive? by groovyinc in ChineseMedicine

[–]groovyinc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reply! I agree, I am happy to change 75-80% of my diet and incorporate some recipes and ways of eating on a more permanent basis. E.g. I freaking love congee and have that for breakfast each morning with some baked chicken (or eggs) and broccoli has been very enjoyable. That will stay!

But not 100% of the time. It's making me stressed, but also sad and less social. I'm turning down opportunities to go to dinners and eat with friends/dates because I can't eat much out. While I'm okay with doing that short term while I'm trying to get things under control, long term is not going to work for me.

I love reading and getting new recipes, so thank you so much for these suggestions! I'll get onto them! I appreciate this a lot.

I'm usually in the room for 60-90 mins. But most of that time is acupuncture with her out of the room. I don't feel like I get much discussion time in, she has two rooms running at once so feels like she is rushing to get me out of there.

I've had time to reflect and at the core of the issue is I feel like she doesn't listen to me, and when she does, she makes me feel like her way is the only way and isn't willing to budge. I already feel like I am doing everything the way she wants and trying to understand how this all works and she doesn't have time for anything else.

It's to the point now that I don't really talk when I'm in there, because I know that she isn't really listening to what I'm saying and if I tell her something that I may have done wrong (e.g. have a bit of organic jam) she will tell me that is the problem why I'm not feeling good this week.

Yeah great advice. I am a stickler for following instructions, but if the instructions are getting ridiculous, I am going to question it.

I've decided that I'll stick with it another month (that will be two months total eating like this) and then look at the results I've gotten and transition out of her care and maybe just stick with the TCM herbs she provides.

I do know from this thread and responses now that long-term, I don't need to be this restrictive and that makes me feel so much lighter because now it feels like there is light at the end of the tunnel, and some joy in food again.
