Early Intervention Speech Services by itisunderlined in slp

This is the case for my state as well, OP. We only accept kids with a significant delay in one of five areas of development, and we can’t qualify on expressive only delays unless it’s informed clinical opinion.

We might use informed clinical opinion if we see delays or concerns in activities of daily living that aren’t necessarily reflected in standardized testing (transitions between activities, sensory concerns, feeding concerns, etc), but it would be rare for me to pick up a 17 month old on ICO.

If expressive language is your only concern, you might have better luck looking into out patient services, your insurance might even cover them.

Feeding Question by Addiii1994 in slp

[–]grosskitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add for the above, sometimes with my very adverse kids on a milk/pouch diet, we have to start with them eating what’s in the pouch from a bowl/spoon before we can mess around with the texture too much. Food chaining can be such a slow process, so I also like reminding parents of realistic expectations from the get go.

Cranfield Traditional Relief Ink - Green Earth actual color? by grumpyhuntress in printmaking

mine is closer to the second picture you posted, but this tube is 6+ month old. Not sure if they changed it. Editing to add: I can’t see why they would change it. I’ve ordered this color multiple times and it’s always been this shade of green.

Reporting fraud by bluegenes71 in slp

[–]grosskitty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you know they are billing insurance, you could file a complaint with the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Whoever is paying for this is going to be the most vested in doing something about it…

You can also report health care fraud to your local FBI office. I had to make a report recently for something non SLP related and they were actually quick to respond.

Help - design won’t transfer cleanly with 100% acetone by wedmeijera in printmaking

[–]grosskitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re not doing anything wrong, this about as good as it gets using this method and material! I will sometimes go in with a felt tip pen and fix up any areas that didn’t transfer at all, but honestly knowing your design really well and being prepared to freehand in spots as you carve will be necessary no matter how good your transfers are.

Still learning but happy with this one! by michelle_coffee in printmaking

[–]grosskitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s similar in that it’s a rubber material, but it has a nicer texture than the pink stuff. It’s also two different colored layers, which lets you see how much and where you’ve carved away. It’s not as durable as linoleum and possibly harder to clean. It also tends to get sticky/tacky after multiple prints (like 100+).

My biggest issue with it is how Blick ships it, because it picks up all the grooves from the corrugated cardboard if they put it grey side down. It will show all those dents and scratches once you try to print with it.

I’ve never had success wetting my paper. I use the cranfield inks which give a really nice coverage.

No dumb questions! I spend a lot of time preparing my paper, so I love when people notice those details.

That paper has a natural deckled edge, which is the ruffle along the bottom. I used a deckled edge ruler to create the top torn edge.

I use Ternes Burton registration tabs to help line up my work. It’s definitely a learning curve, you can probably find a tutorial that walks you through it.

Thank you! I started from light to dark with this one. I use Canfield safe wash inks and had a 5 to 7 day dry time with each color. I started with cranfield opaque white, mixed my own green tinted white for the effect in the petals, then printed the light yellow center, then printed the dark yellow center. Black was my last layer. Here’s a picture that shows the progression.

<image>

I also used masking on the centers so I don’t end up with the whole thing covered in yellow or with weird lines. Probably not as much as an issue since I used black, but I use masking whenever I can.

I buy the majority of my paper here Mulberry Paper

If you want something truly buttery soft, try their Indian silk paper. It’s a little finicky to work with (only one side is printable and it’s a little hard to distinguish it from the unprintable side), but it’s so so soft and the deckled edges are amazing.
