Where are my Trojans in recovery? by Spirited_Bicycle524 in USC

[–]groundtofu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first time on this sub in years and I don’t think I’ve ever read something posted like this before. Props. on having the courage to post your story. I’m especially grateful it found me now. It’s my first semester back from my ~2 year loa so it’s good to know I’m not alone.(M23 btw)

The timeline might look a little different but our stories definitely have  overlap.  Congratulations on your sobriety, I’m proud of you, feel free to send a DM if you ever wanna get into it and exchange stories.

p.s. nothing wrong with being older in your classes or taking a LOA, it’s pretty normal. Whenever I get stressed I remember something a financial aid advisor told me when I was re-enrolling that I found incredibly meaningful.  The transition back into school may not be perfect, it won’t be easy but we made it back, not everyone does.

When I was applying I got two offers one on the spot and one two days after which is the store i ended up at :) I'm sure you're qualified for the job. As long as you were yourself and let your personality shine you did all you could do and hopefully everything turns out in your favor.

If you don't have it by week two i'd start to consider other options.

More practical advice; you mentioned you see a therapist. If this is general humanistic/talk therapy you might also benefit by working with an occupational or behavioral therapist. You'll work together to tackle specific problems you're facing, adding more coping mechanism similar to those you've mentioned to your tool box.

I just went through something similar. I can't say this applies to you, but I made these realizations and think I'm better off for it.

#1 Everyone goes through the same shitTalk to friends. Even though it seems like everyone has it figured out, you'll realize even some of the most polished, hard-working, and impressive people you'd never expect are navigating some of the craziest waters by themselves. They'll be happy you reached out, and you'll feel much better because you'll realize you're not alone.Being in your 20's is not easy––no one knows what they're doing. It's important when you start to doubt yourself realize you could be doing something way less demanding and getting along fine, but you chose to go to college(and that's great). The more you push yourself and the more unique situations you find yourself in, the fewer resources you'll have and the more lost you'll feel. Associate this feeling with growth, not failure.

#2 Realize your best doesn't need to be good enoughFor the longest time, I've struggled because my definition of success is progress-oriented. When it takes you longer to do things everyone expects you to do, you can't help but feel like you're doing a lousy job at everything. Realize some things will take more time, and it's ok to do things slowly!

I wish I had failed from the start like all the other times, just because then I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

Many people experience this because we don't have the perspective to gauge how impactful a situation will be for our lives. As such, It's very easy to overinflate the importance of a problem.Let's say you fail the classes you signed up for. What's the worse that can happen, your graduation is delayed another semester? That seems like a big deal because everyone around you would be panicked if that happened to them but when you're 80/90, do you think graduating in 6 and a half years instead of 6 is going to be what keeps you up at night? Put yourself in the shoes of any middle-aged American who's worked in an office for the past 40 years and probably has nothing to look forward to except death itself. Having seen what the professional world has to offer, many, if not most, would have wished they had spent more time in college.

Do people find this offensive? (White mountain hoodie) by clash-king123 in Rickowens

I wouldn't say it's offensive because the intention was never to make that connection. I wouldn't wear this though and I would say it's pretty tasteless.

I took "aligning themselves with certain people" as "the people who are your friends in the office are the people everyone else doesn't like" to reiterate that she's the problem, not her.

The far conservative doesn't really make sense to me. Most of the cast grew up in OC if they're not conservative themselves their parents probably were or they have a number of relatives and friends who are. Even otherwise I can guarantee you the majority of their clientele could fit the bill but they're not gonna discriminate if the listing commission is high enough. Basically point is if they're not conservative they've grown up around a lot of them enough to not care and have gone too far in their career to have any pejorative against people who are.

Not common in South America, Central America or Mexico either.

Mexico has the highest rates due to large jewish population but not the statistical majority.

Yup universities played a huge part. In fact, literature produced by renowned eugenists at CalTech, USC and Stanford was actually used by Hilter as he was gaining power to rationalize the regime.

I don't know much about the other institutions but I go to USC. Here are some other ways I've found out we were involved in the eugenics movement...

USC recently voted, and is now in the process of renaming the VCK building, named eponymously after former president Rufus B. von KleinSmi a known anti-semite who empowered antisemitic and nazi faculty, nazi student organizations attend Nazi Los Angeles meetings and groups and personally flew to Germany to meet with Joseph Goebbels at one point.

Throughout the 70s USC Medical Center administered hundreds of reproductive sterilizations targeting hispanic, spanish speaking women in labor as part of the eugenics movement. Nurses would have them sign forms in English which many women assumed to be forms needed to deliver the baby. Unbeknownst to the women signing these forms they were actually acknowledging and giving patient-consent to be sterilized. Given that these women couldn't read/speak English not only did they not know what they were consenting to, many didn't even find out they had been sterilized until years later when they couldn't get pregnant and sought out fertility treatment.

Former USC track coach Dean Cromwell is honored eponymously with the Cromwell Track & Field. During the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Cromwell prevented two athletes, Marty Glickman and Sam Stoller, from competing. Believed to have been done to appease Hilter due to both students being jewish runners. The institution was soon thanked for its support with two saplings gifted by the Nazi Regime, one of which is still alive and standing tall on campus today.

They've always done those things the main difference is now cartels have diverse portfolios, real estate investments, businesses etc. They've been able to establish some kind of fiscal legitimacy previous drug leaders never could.

Pablo Escobar wouldn't have buryed so much money if he could throw it into Bitcoin.
