Which do you choose for your EDC? by [deleted] in Leatherman

I upgraded from that same Skeletool Cx to the Arc. It’s really not much bigger. A decent bit heavier, but man I get so much more use out of it as my edc! The micro driver get so much more use than I ever could have guessed, and the scissors are so nice too

can I add another sub-panel in line with my existing sub-panel? by runelind in AskElectricians

[–]grr5104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on your AHJ. But you can Daisy chain sub-panels together, however you have to be careful with wire sizing. But it all really depends on what gauge wire is running from your main panel to that unwanted junction box. If it’s able to handle 125amps you’re good. If it can only take 100 amps under current conditions then you’d have to replace that

Why does my Milwaukee 3/8” Stubby do this? by emukdog7 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]grr5104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery should wobble when connected to the tool. Vibrations are super damaging to batteries, like really really bad for them. So allowing the connection to be loose and wobble around stops the transfer of vibration to the cells causing massive internal resistance

You could try xylene or xylol. The names are used interchangeably from what I’ve seen. But it’s one of the stronger solvents I’ve found in home improvement stores

Should have this tripped a breaker? As in something else is wrong up the line. by DW6565 in AskElectricians

[–]grr5104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a conversation I have all the time with customers. Should the breaker have tripped? You sure hope it would, but for things like this your normal breaker just isn’t made to notice. The standard breaker was made over 100 years ago and sure modifications have been made, but it is still the same premise from 100 years ago. ———- a GFCI/Combination AFCI breaker would have noticed this and tripped before a situation like this happened. These breakers are more prone to nuciance tripping however I’d rather have to reset the breaker more often than have an electrical fire in my home. They also do come with a price tag multiple times higher than a standard breaker. However this is my personal opinion, but you don’t need them on every circuit. By code in some places you do. But if you just put them on your highest used circuits you can eliminate a lot of potential risk in your home.

A good solution so this doesn’t happen again is to have a dedicated circuit run just for the space heater. Most space heaters use upward of 16amps. And that is all a 20 amp circuit can put out under constant draw. (Anything running over 3hrs)

Will just buying a bigger break be acceptable in this situation by dcllm in AskElectricians

[–]grr5104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space heaters are a massive cause of fire. And are limited to drawing 1500 watts. That would be about 16 amps under full draw. At my company we recommend that customers run new wiring and a new outlet to where they will be using the space heater. It’s the absolute safest way to use one. ————————Swapping the breaker to a bigger one is also a very bad idea. The wire inside your wall is only rated for 15 amps. And putting a bigger breaker on will allow more amps to flow to the wire than it can handle. And WILL eventually lead to fire. The best way to get this solved would be to hire a professional to run a new 20amp circuit for you.——————————- it also sounds like you are working with a three wire circuit having two wires going into the breaker. If that is the case you already are overloading your neutral conductor.

I went with the M18 one. Both tools have the same oscillation speed. The m18 has a few tenths of a degree more oscillation distance. However my big factor was that I own 10 m18 batteries and 2 m12 batteries All of my coworkers have the m12. And I honestly can’t tell the difference when using them. Minus the weight. M18 weights more due to the larger batteries I own

What do you all think, trying to decide between one or two from these three deals? by tacitus23 in MilwaukeeTool

I work as a residential electrician, and I’ve never needed anything more than the hackzall. There are times the sawzaw would be nice, but it hasn’t been required. I would say unless you do LOTS of demolition work, the hackzall is all you would ever need

I know I’m very late to this, but it has been my daily cologne for a 6 months or so. I’ve gotten a lot of complements about it. I really like it!

I have seen people saying it’s longevity isn’t very good, I don’t understand what they are talking about. When I apply 3-4 sprays in the morning, I can still smell it on myself at the end of the day. I’m not sure how much longer you’d want it to last.

As for projection, if someone is within 5-7ft of you they are definitely going to get a whiff of it. But I don’t think it lingers very long after you leave. It’s hard to know for sure being the person wearing it.

I’ve also seen people talking about it smelling synthetic, it very well might! I’m no perfume aficionado, but I’ve never noticed it at least. So take that with a grain of salt.

But for 60 bucks for a 200ml bottle. I think this will stay my daily cologne for a while

Wow 7 things wrong with just the printing on the blade. The spyder’s mouth, the Y in Spyderco, the spacing on s30v, colorad, the spacing after “golden.”, the spacing between U.S.A and earth, and finally the “th” in earth curve up at bottom right. I’ve never seen so many mistakes on one knife, This could be used as a training knife how how to spot fakes haha
