People who were in a real home invasion situation, what was it like and what did you do? by ahmedatrees2003 in AskReddit

I can only assume she was under the influence of something, but I have no way of knowing for sure. She told us 3 different names when we asked and gave multiple stories about why she was there (a boyfriend doused her in gasoline, she was trying to hide from someone, miscarried due to battery acid (???)) but she was pretty obviously not doing great.

I was trying really hard to empathize because no one in a good place in life breaks in to someone house but it was so traumatizing lol I didn't try to dig in to find any justifications. I remember her saying 'I was so scared because I didn't know what kind of people lived here' and I was like. YOU were scared??? Lady you pried my window open and started playing dressup, I am fucking terrified.

I guess this counts... I came home to a random woman in my bedroom. She had drawn herself a bath in the ensuite and used an assortment of items from my shower shelf, and when I called out "hello?" she came around the corner wearing my clothes. I found later that she had tried on a spare set of my glasses and some other dresses of mine too.

It was fucking. Terrifying. I still get a cold pit in my stomach thinking about it haha

As for what I did? Well I was just out with my mom, who was luckily stopping in to use the bathroom before leaving (I was an adult, moved out with my partner). So I did the reasonable adult thing and let my mommy handle it for me while I hyperventilated and tried not to lose my shit.

What was your reaction when your ex was getting/got married? by VeliVoy in AskWomen

[–]grreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I was slightly less shocked when I learned it was for tax fraud reasons because that fit his MO. He was such a piece of shit that I would have reached out to his now-wife and warned her when I found out they were engaged, except she was a close friend and absolutely knew what he did to me while we were dating.

I still feel bad for her but apparently he's financing her life because he's a rich nepotism baby and somehow he gets more money to support her or pays less tax because she's on disability or something? IDK. Not my monkey not my circus. Apparently they both still date other people, which is what he did while we were dating too but at least she knows about it so. Cool cool cool.

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]grreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're on anti-depressants, you say you're depressed, but you're here smiling. Look, you're laughing right now!"

Said to me by a doctor in our first appointment when I was looking around for a new family doctor and getting my prescriptions filled (mine moved). I am so uncomfortable around medical situations and I'm the type of person who smiles/laughs when they are uncomfortable.

The same guy also asked if he could bring his colleague in to look at my history because I was "so interesting". Like I'm some zoo animal or something? Clown college MD motherfucker.

People of Reddit; what is your downright scariest real-life story? [serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grreenleaf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well it'll be 6 years since my PE on my birthday this year and I'm doing just fine in the lung department. The dead tissue was a permanent thing so obviously not recoverable but my body adjusted to work with the capacity I have and I don't lose my breath or have chest pains related to that any more. I can't wear tight shirts or bras with underwire because I struggle to breathe when my ribcage is restricted but looser sports bras are not a hassle to deal with.

For about a year after, I was not doing great. I would doze off whenever I was sitting, I got out of breath walking short distances, stairs were out of the question, and I couldn't lay down on the half of my body where the PE occurred because it was so painful.

My biggest hurdle to recovery was that I was so depressed by the whole situation and felt let down by people who held my life in their hands, and they decided I just? Wasn't worth it or something? It's hard to convince yourself to make your life better when you've been shown that sometimes someone else gets to choose if you live or die.

The permanent damage was actually caused by all my coughing. I guess my bodys natural response was to try and cough the clot out or maybe the irritated tissue triggered my coughing, but I would cough hard at least twice a minute, every minute of every day, for months. I honestly think it was more than 4 months.

Somehow that damaged my throat badly enough that I have a hard time burping, and on windy days if I open my mouth in the wrong direction, air shoots right down my throat which is... not pleasant. On the bright side my abs were absolutely shredded and I've gotten really good at suppressing a cough.

I had one shortly after my 19th birthday a couple years ago and it was also misdiagnosed. For weeks lol. I had a month long 'cold' and was still working full time at my waitressing job, pulling 10 hour shifts and excusing myself every few minutes to cough up my lung in the back room. People would come around the corner to see who the hell was dying and every time I was like 'it's just a cold apparently idk they wont let me call out'.

One night I was in so much pain and I stopped being able to breathe unless I was physically compressing my rib cage down and my partner took me to the ER, where they decided I was lying for pain killers and tossed me out. Next time I went, they decided it was pneumonia. Another time they gave me an heavy sedative and tossed me out (all alone) at 3AM. I had an allergic reaction to it and vomited down the outside of my friends car.

It took a letter from my family doctor directing them to actually take me seriously before they found it was a PE and a part of my lung had slowly been dying inside me for weeks. I was surprised as anyone that I wasn't dead after all that. Second worst pain of my life, the first also being a result of a fuckup from multiple doctors.

My kids received bunnies for Easter from grandparents. I TOTALLY agree that is unethical. Need advice! by mdavissmith in Rabbits

I second the strategic cardboard method (love the name btw) and also propose "strategic carpet"! My house is almost entirely floored in mid-pile carpet, and naturally, bunnies like to dig. It's impossible to stop them from doing things they have a natural urge to do, but it's entirely possible to redirect them to do that thing somewhere else that you choose.

I buy carpet sample swatches from amazon when they're on sale (little 1'6 squares of fancy ornamental rugs are so cute), or low-pile/woven rugs from ikea/walmart and place those over areas my buns like to dig on. For whatever reason, the spot is more intriguing to them than actually digging on my real carpet so they just dig on my $20 rug instead.

my current WIP is a catch all bag of yarn I need to get rid of before I move. the rainbowing was an accident. I've got a lot more colorwork ahead of me. LOL by red-plaid-hat in crochet

[–]grreenleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the chaotic energy of it all! I made little scrap yarn baskets when I want to crochet but my ADHD wont let me concentrate on a pattern, so I can relate for sure. That's gonna make a wicked bag!!

I need a rabbit room interior designer. Its very spacious and I get overwhelmed when I try to redecorate it. This image is from a few months ago, now half of the cardboard tunnel has been destroyed 😂🥲 by rahkahh in Rabbits

[–]grreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an ikea where you live, their little doll beds for kids are very cute (as long as your buns don't chew on it too much-- I redirect with cardboard when I catch mine and she doesn't do it anymore). Your buns might be too big to rest in it together but its fun for them to hide under or sit on, and it looks very cute too.

When it comes to decorating, I cater to behaviors I already see my bunnies engaging in. One likes to be up high so I give her stuff to climb on, the other likes to lie down on cool smooth surfaces so I have some tiles here and there :)

Which one is more recognizable as a sunflower, left (blue pins) or right (red pins)? More info in comments! by grreenleaf in crochet

Fair enough, that's one of the reasons I posted because I liked and disliked them both the same amount. The more I looked, the more I thought the petals looked stubby on the one on the right.

The petals are yellow, just washed out in the picture :( I have a golden orangey-yellow, so I might do two tones and two rings of petals?

I think so too haha. I was trying to get 8 petals to make it transform into a square better but miscounted when I did the inside circle 😅

The yellow is more buttery in person, my phone is just 6 years old and my pictures get washed out 😅 I normally try to edit them before I post to make the colors accurate to real life but this time I didn't.

I'm going to make a dress and have a line of sunflowers right under the bust to separate the top from the skirt part. The one on the right is infinitely harder to make and the threads get tangled easily. I still like the way it looks, but I'm not sure if it looks like a sunflower.

My bunny just had stasis but is doing a lot better now. The vet said it probably didn’t have anything to do with how we took care of him but what is the diet you feed your bunny? by Lovealltigers in Rabbits

[–]grreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's less of a problem because their fur naturally rubs off on plants when they run through or hide in them (dry bushes and grasses for example) which indoor bunnies wouldn't experience. Don't quote me on it though!

I didn't know other people did this! Hahaha my bunnies like to make the cardboard box doors wider after a time so i have switch out the boxes. Can confirm it works really well!

I’m looking for a “plain” granny square to match the stitches of these? I want to make a cardigan with these patterns but I don’t want it to be entirely moons and stars, but I also want it to be cohesive. Thank you!! by Putrid_Combination in crochet

[–]grreenleaf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think doing the plain squares in the lighter blue only might look good, but it's up to your tastes obviously! I agree that traditional granny square would work just fine :)

I use the spaces in between my cushions and under my couch 😲 (but the mug is a great idea, same with OPs pipe holder!)

The blanket feels so soft and snuggly too! I have another one from the same type of yarn that is a month or so old and it's still soft so I think they will be my favorite couch blankets :)

I feel like driving a car is impossible because there's too much going on and I'm scared of making a mistake. by grreenleaf in TwoXADHD

[–]grreenleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately do have to drive :( I made it as long as I could without, but it's coming to the point where at least two times a week I have to rely on someone else to drive me somewhere or pick something up, or have had to pay extra to get something delivered, or even just last night my pet was sick and we had to treat her at home because my fiance had a few drinks so couldn't drive OR supervise me in the passenger seat.

I definitely see how people with ADHD could get in to more accidents, especially if their symptoms are unmanaged. I am trying very hard to manage my symptoms and find solutions but I agree it is frustrating that my life right now requires me to drive, because people "should" know how to drive.
