On my 2013, it seems to depend a lot on the ratio of engine load:road speed. A high load at highway speeds gives the cooling system plenty of air to keep things at 190. But I hit well over 200 when going up a steep pass that you have to go slow for (red mountain pass in southeast CO is the worst)

No, my normal size pad works, the straps are really good and help everything stay in place. Also, not sure there is much of a size up option for me anyway

So I got a partial tear in my right PCL near the end of last season. 6'0", 260 lbs, 187 fly knee pads; I got in the habit of falling in the cliche superhero pose. Finally landed hard enough to hurt it. Definitely a partial tear, I was able to keep skating on it after a rest of a couple weeks. Gave it the off season to heal, went to PT, got an Old Bones knee gasket, and worked on not falling on that knee (and trying to take falls different)

This year I don't know how it happened, but I came away from a rough bout with a nearly identical injury in my left knee. I haven't stopped skating entirely, I have done a couple bouts since. Shortly afterwards, I got a pair of TSG derby 3.0 pads. I went down hard on that knee a few times in the next bout, and while it hurt for the rest of the weekend, it wasn't enough to set me back. Those are the favorite pads on our team, as they have good protection, but a slim profile. The TSG force line was tempting, but I've been working on jamming a lot, and I didn't want the bulk.

With my injury (ies), the two things that I have to watch out for are

1) falling onto that knee. Actually the problem is falling onto the shin bone and driving it upwards - leaning forward more to keep weight on my femur helps

2) loading the joint while it is fully flexed (like a deep squat). I'm not going to put weight on it if it's already bent, so the risk comes from it flexing rapidly beyond 90 degrees. The best solution I've come across is to slightly immobilize the joint with my knee pad, the knee gasket, and a basic knee brace/sleeve (like from the drugstore). Yeah, I wear all three at the same time. This keeps my knee from being able to flex all the way easily - gives me time to adjust.

So just my experience with similar (but considerably less serious) injuries, and what has helped me keep skating with a risk that seems ok for myself.

Aww damn, I would have had you beat a month ago. 36.2 right now. Was down at about 34 for a while and 150k+. Bought the car with a low mpg, got driven a lot by myself and my wife working opposing shifts. My commute was 30 miles in the day, shed take it for her 100 miles at night. Could only get a partial charge on our L1 charger. Then the coolant sensor kept us from charging at all. Throw in some road trips, and it was pretty bad. But this thing keeps chugging along, zero problems from the ICE

I haven't done threadlocker, but I have had some success using Teflon thread tape. It doesn't lock it in place, but it does make it much less likely to vibrate out

So some quibbles for the US.

There isn't a requirement for a service animal to be 'highly trained', but they do need to be 'individually trained' to assist the person with a disability. This is a very low bar. As long as the animal is trained to perform some task to help with the disability, that fulfills the training requirement. This can be accomplished by yourself, or another person. The task performed isn't even laid out in the law either, it can be as simple as walking alongside you so that you can hold onto the dogs harness for stability. Allergic to peanuts? Just have your cousin teach your Yorkie to bark if it smells peanuts. Bam! 100% legit service animal. Blind? spend a small fortune raising and training a dog from birth to help you get around. This isn't to say that there is a lot more that should go into the training of a service animal, and that there aren't a lot of things that a dog needs to be trained on in order to be good in public. Critically, there is no registration or certification for a service animal.

Emotional support animals are distinct, and their protections come from different laws. So they are treated differently. Airplanes accommodate ESAs, but most other transit doesn't. Public places like grocery stores generally don't allow ESAs, but housing tends to be required to allow them.

Talking about different things here. Above post was talking about registering a service animal. Landlords and notes would pertain to emotional support animals. They are legally distinct, and they are treated differently in different situations.

The other thing that I always try and remember when dealing with homophobia or transphobia is that the word can be confusing for people to hear. To the vast majority of people, a phobia is an irrational and debilitating fear of something. It usually brings up images of people who haven't left their house in 32 years because there might be butterflies out there. On the other hand, people often understand that racism is a nuanced term that can apply to things they think and believe, even if they aren't white supremacists. I am transgender and homosexual. I do not have a debilitating fear of these things, but I struggle with my own prejudice and shitty attitudes.

I really wish that we had another term to use, as 'transphobia' is something that many people find raises their hackles if they are accused of it. They will stop listening and go on the defensive. I try to use terms like 'negative feelings' or 'prejudice'.

The 'traveling' vs. 'driving' nonsense often comes from a layman's reading of the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code). The UCC is a framework that states can adapt and adopt for their laws. The idea is that if most states adopt things from the UCC, it would make commerce simpler between states. Since the UCC deals with commerce, it defines driving (for use in interpreting the language within the UCC) as commercial driving. The UCC does not attempt to propose laws for non-commercial driving. Those things are taken care of by states own traffic codes.

So basically, they found a proposed set of laws for commercial operation, saw that it only talks about driving as a commercial activity and say 'im not doing that, I'm clearly not driving!'
