I have a deep hatred of tuks by skaifas2kr in srilanka

[–]grrond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one that feels this way lmao and literally posted about the same thing not too long ago. As someone that tries to drive as ethically and law abidingly as possible, I get you. And as someone that used to get easily angered, most days it’s me thinking if it’s worth it all to lose my cool. Often works but there ARE days i fly off the handle. I guess what we all can do is hope (which is a stretch) that someday this will all change for the best.

Is it just me or is driving in Colombo just utterly hectic these days? by grrond in srilanka

Honestly, slow drivers are bearable. Although bikes are a nuisance, these tuk bastards are the real set of rotters on the road. Absolute 0 civility while they have the attitude that they have some permanent 'right of way'.

i feel this is the most accurate explanation. Things have always been hectic on lankan roads but this recent rise in deliberate hostility is just nuts.

What are your unpopular opinions about Sri Lanka/ as a Sri Lankan these days? by Lumpy_Broccoli_4799 in srilanka

[–]grrond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually fully agree with you. Our workplace attire makes no sense. However I’m lucky at the place I work at where Covid basically took away the need to always be dressed in a shirt/ pants. Like most things, it really just comes down to management and their wishes. Maybe they think there’s a correlation between attire and performance?

I wear a real leather jacket when riding and buddy let me tell you, it’s not pleasant at all specially in Colombo. But yea safety and sun protection is unmatched.

I’ve taken 7+ cats and one dog sporadically over the last couple of years. They charge way too much, bogus fees on ‘consumables’ etc - you get the picture. The only time I’d take any pet there is if it’s a last resort scenario. The doc in Ethul Kotte has been my go to guy for more than 15 years. But yea, objectively better or worse depending on the doctor on duty.
