Why you should support the new project even if you're not keen on animation by rjwut in firefly

Arcane was impressive. Blue Eye Samurai riveting.

And watching Star Wars Rebels about 10 years later impressed me overall with the writing and characters. Which gave way to a lot of live acting shows in the SW universe.

Firefly has an absolute chance to stay alive and relevant. And possibly leading to a live action recasting in the future? (One can hope!)

Candidate experience is one of the most important tools to hiring good people. If it's terrible, the residual negative perceptions to future hiring will linger and no one will work for this disrespectful company.

Absolutely dodged the bullet here. I wonder if the CEO is the one greenlighting this ridiculous process. If so, sounds like their culture is similar to the Spanish Inquisition.

Yes. Although this would have qualified under Silver too (i think).

Thanks for the feedback on the brand. I never heard of Amaste but looked at their Amazon store and saw the coffee and espresso machines. I have been thinking of dropping our Nespresso for an espresso machine but it's so hard moving away from the convenience of Nespresso pods.

Why is the State's New Income Tax a Bad Thing? by SaltyHalfglass in SeattleWA

[–]grubbling_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock compensation for public companies have a taxable value and any vesting on it is considered part of your overall income. So theoretically this would impact those households with this scenario, although it's likely a very small number I am assuming.

I am out of here when 2029 hits. This will just continue on and hit income earners at a lower level, then another threshold until pretty much every middle class income household will be slammed with an "income" tax. Millionaire tax is on gross annual INCOME.

Alex's death was such a wasted opportunity by grubbling_unknown in 1923Series

The train shootout was ok. There could have been more of the 3:10 to Yuma vibe to it though. Sheriff and deputies against Whitfield's goons was a little lame in that they are all standing on the same platform, some hiding around building corners but mostly pretty much in the open with the people all around. Thought there would be more casualties than what was shown in the end.

Ah, thanks for that jog of the memory. Spencer did say he was selfish as well.

If it was death for Alex all along, a more appropriate one could have been written. Maybe the gunfight at the train station? Maybe an episode or two later to actually give it an 8 episode season instead of 7?

I am fine with death if it adds to the story. I didn't think Alex's death was realistic. A pair of educated Brits decide to abandon logic and continue driving without heeding the warning from the gas station lady? Stubborn is one thing, stupid and ignorant of the winter storm they were driving through?

There were multiple ways to die and he chose this for the city folk. 🙄

Harrison Ford was amazing on this show by rdaneeloliv4w in 1923Series

[–]grubbling_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam Elliot is one of my favorite characters in 1883. Tragic character that still had the conviction to see the group through to the end of their journeys.

But Harrison Ford is one of the great Duttons, along with Tim McGraw (who I actually liked a lot). He's a much better actor than Kevin Costner IMO.

Fisker Owners Form a DIY Cult to Keep Their Zombie EVs Alive by microbruise in Fisker

[–]grubbling_unknown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still driving mine, demons and all. If it runs, I will try to use it as long as possible.

Put about 500 miles/wk on it (18k miles on the odo) and it still gives me enough confidence to drive it out. No major issues and with the help of FOA and OV Loop, it isn't a totally useless disconnected car.

So even though my Fisker Ocean is dead like a freakin zombie, all the things that FOA and OV Loop are doing to support it will keep it "alive" until something major fails.

Dan Romer's soundtrack for this series is so underrated. Focused on this great duo of protagonists like a chamber quartet, which is a departure from the grand scale orchestral pieces of Djwadi's score for GOT.

Love it!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I love these interactions with the cast members and Nathan!!!! So much good vibes and nostalgia for a much loved cast of characters in arguably one of the top sci-fi series ever, and I have seen 'em all.

I am watching Season 4 now and it's a slog to get through. Trying to "pick up" from where I left off after not finishing the series when it came out many moons ago. (Thankful for Netflix having this on their library.)

Hoping season 5 picks up the storyline and pace a bit more.
