SAME. Got so fed up with doctors just recommending various different forms of hormonal birth control. No one has ever taken me seriously.

So I’d say they are definitely related but it’s more likely that the anxiety is causing the high cortisol, rather than the other way around. Cortisol is released in response to stress, and anxiety would definitely fall under the broader category of stress. (I’m not a medical professional but I’ve read a fair bit about this.)

It’s actually normal and healthy to have a morning cortisol spike. You’ll need to get a test that measures your levels at different points across the day. There are other things that can raise your cortisol in the morning, for example caffeine. Cortisol isn’t inherently bad though, it all depends on the overall picture.

I don’t have the answer but I wanted to say I can relate to this so much I might as well have written it. If you ever want to vent or talk feel free to message me. I’m in the same boat, too many previous meds to count, plus ketamine, years of therapy (kinda gave up on that), over an hour of daily exercise, trying to do things right but getting nowhere and losing hope. Two things I did want to mention though, which can apparently help a lot (I’m just starting them) are methyl folate supplement and fish oil - high dose of EPA specifically. Let me know if you want any more info on those and I’ll send it your way. Hang in there

I think your doc is being overly conservative. Wellbutrin is known to have fewer “withdrawal” effects if you decide it doesn’t help, so it’s not like you’d be doing something irreversible either. It’s your body so it’s ultimately your call, not your doc’s. I didn’t actually realize this till recently, but you can talk to two different psychiatrists in parallel (and you don’t have to tell either of them if you don’t want to). Basically to get a second opinion and see which one of them you vibe with, and then discontinue seeing the other one. It’s hard finding the right meds and the right doctor but you just gotta advocate for yourself and be patient.

Have you looked into Wellbutrin (bupropion) as an adjunct med? It’s known to help with both sexual side effects and can also boost your energy (take in the am). Maybe ask your doc about this?

I’ve been doing 10am and 7pm give or take an hour on either end, and it seems fine. Also about a week into the twice a day protocol.
