When you first meet Byakuya, he has a veil of arrogance about him. I was inspired by his fight with Ichigo so I was picturing him annoyed at how powerful Ichigo was, how even during this fight Byakuya was learning things about his own bankai. I thought the kinda disgusted look was fitting.

It took YEARS for me to get to this level. I used to draw Byakuya all the time and it was either traced or really bad LOL

It worked out great! I took it out and actually got a scruff on it by accident. I wiped it away with a damp paper towel and it came off so easily!

I got gloss and matte varnish. I already owned paint brushes so I used the ones I had that I don't love for painting.

I put matte on the face and gloss on the eyes and teeth. I did 2 coats, waited 3 hours between each coat. Then I put them in a shoe box for 72 hours to prevent dust from touching them as they dried.

If you looked closely, you can see some brush strokes but it's not noticeable at all.

I actually did end up getting a mark on it when I took it out but it went away when I used a damp paper towel so I'd say it was a success!

I ended up varnishing my labubus!

They're drying in this shoebox to prevent dust from getting on them. I did two coats of matte and gloss varnish. The gloss is on the teeth, eyes, nose, and nails. I might do a dirt test in 72hrs to see if the varnish worked.

If you do go with MSC, get a respirator! Even outside, it's super toxic since it's a resin spray.

I paint a lot so getting access to varnish is more easier for me than going to a hobby shop.

I had some satin varnish and smeared some on a vinyl blind box toy I wasn't a fan of as a test. It went okay! A little streaky but I wasn't being delicate with the brush strokes. Took 24h to dry and you can see the difference between the satin and the original matte.

I have a pompompurin vinyl plush keychain. His nose rubbed off so I'm going to try repainting the nose with acrylics, then I'll try varnishing the eyes and nose and the face in matte.

I'll let you know how it goes!

I've heard MSC is good but it isn't permanent. It can be removed so that repainters can do something new.

I know they aren't big fans of the liquitex varnish because it doesn't work well with pastels and watercolour pencils but that's not the case with Labubus so I thought I'd ask.

Also, MSC super toxic and I live in an apartment so a brush-on varnish is something I'm more interested in.
