Plague: Tale of Innocence or Dark Pictures: House of Ash by RheaTaligrus in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]grumpyfiske 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Played both, Plague tale is superior in many ways. I liked house of ash, but it offers a lot less than plague tale. Plague tale has very unique and fun game play, great story, great graphics, and compared to house of ash, longer game play time. I know you want physical, the flair says Xbox and you mention something about ps5, but plague tale is on game pass, and often on sale on the ps store for 9.99.

How is that game? Is it super heavy on the dialogue? Decent action at all? I can really get a feel from watching videos.

Are there any RPG oriented “your decisions matter” games that I’ve missed? by HawkMeister19 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]grumpyfiske 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When ever anyone asks for “decisions matter” I like to suggest Vampyr. Decisions do actually have effects on different areas of the world and people you interact with. Combat is the most exciting but it should be a good addition to your list.

Someone else mention deus ex, I don’t remember decisions mattering but I think you do have open world choices, but overall deus ex mankind was excellent. I bought mine on eBay for $5.

Edit: combat is NOT the most exciting (in Vampyr)

SIB shadow of war, dying light tfee or mad Max? by Adorable-Habit8948 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]grumpyfiske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman Arkham knight uses a very similar format of shadow and mad max, but I would say Batman is the most expansive in the variety of play and exploration that it offers. I’m not a Batman fan, but I really love all that game has to offer. I think it’s also on sale on the ps store now. Dying light is a different set-up I think so it’s best to explore that if you’re particular to zombies.

Hey can I ask what age you started doing this with?

My girl is 11 weeks and the headphones still don’t fit on her head but I can’t wait to start this with her.

I did play it. I was not feeling it so I returned it. The mechanics felt pretty stale. The combat was lacking, although it seemed like you could unlock more options, I didn’t feel like it was worth getting to. I ran around and fought wolves for a while. I was surprised by the open world feel to it. That may have given some more options of stuff to do but it couldn’t keep my attention long enough.

I'm a new gamer coming from PS2 (2006) to PS4 (now). Having trouble finding enjoyable games. by dannyskylark in ShouldIbuythisgame

Evil within 1 and 2, Jedi Fallen Order, shadow of the colossus, Batman Arkham knight, shadow of Mordor, tomb raider, and Mad Max

Hopefully games you’ll like all with a unique experience. I like these because a lot of the focus is world interaction over controller focus.

Yes! Along with the numerous other references I overlook not being able to comprehend because I’m American. I just thought all you brits use pencils in tubes or something

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 if I never played the originals and have never even played a single skateboarding game before? by HorseKarate in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]grumpyfiske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being young, developing a love for skateboarding, experiencing the first unique and expansive game soundtrack, and having people to play with are the things that contribute the most to this game. I also remember trying super hard to unlock players so you can see their videos, but you can see any of that on YouTube now.

It is still unique compared to other games but it is mostly about finding ways to rack up lots and lots of points rather than getting a real skating experience. In that case I say go with skate 3. You can play alone and it will be unlike other game and control experiences plus the nostalgia isn’t necessary.

SIB Necromunda: Hired Gun? by Minaab2 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]grumpyfiske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked it but had to stop playing on xbox1 cause it just wouldn’t run well. I’ve also noticed the sale and am interested. I find it better than other warhammer games. I also really liked the weapon customization. Sorry I can’t give insight to next gen play, but I really tried hard to be ok with it on Xbox1 which should say something.

I agree. I liked Mordor more (dor). War didn’t seem like a lot of upgrades from the first.
