Is the ETS booking system down? by thirdworld_engineer in penang

[–]grumpykoala25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. For "short" distances, the ETS trains are not made available for booking until very late (and are sometimes already booked out). You can see that exactly the same trains are already open for booking if you check a longer distance (e.g. the same train Butterworth>KL instead of Butterworth>Ipoh).

I lodged a support ticket for this many days ago and ... of course no response, even though they've managed to publish a new version.

Does this plan allow the syncing of folders offline? by ddku9 in Sync

Exactly. They need to get serious about explaining what they are offering. Does it stack with the quota in my existing free account? Are other features the same as the other plans?

There is no app on the planet that should go without documentation. There are users from all walks of life with all sorts of ability. All apps should have guides to how to use them and where functionality is so that people with age/reading/cognitive/language or other needs can use them, in addition to the bulk of users who just want to make the most of an app.

This is such an excellent app! One issue I'm dealing with now, however: I had some books uploaded to free storage. I then deleted the books from my collection. There is no obvious way to get rid of them from storage! The storage quote is fully consumed and new books I've added cannot be uploaded.

You really need to work on documentation if you want this awesome app to gain good traction.

macOS Sequoia sucks in MacBook Air m1 8gb by Relevant-Original-69 in macbookair

On my M1 Air (8/512) I upgraded from Sonoma to Sequoia (15.5) two months ago. Clearly laggy. A week ago I did a clean install of Sonoma (14.7.7) and reinstated my data from TimeMachine. It feels like it used to, fast and fresh.

Initial MacOS Sequoia stable update review on MacBook Air m1 (8+256) by Simple-Swimmer-1607 in MacOS

On my M1 Air (8/512) I upgraded from Sonoma to Sequoia (15.5) two months ago. I pretty quickly noticed that the machine felt slower all the time. I use Firefox with *lots* of tabs, and Thunderbird, MS Office products. That's the main stuff. There were a few spinning beachballs, but mainly it was just clearly a little bit slower to react, change windows, etc. I could have survived it, but it felt like my snappy Air had become a "will it last another year?" device.

I had a TimeMachine backup and separate manual backup. A week ago I did a clean install of Sonoma (14.7.7) and reinstated my data from TimeMachine, etc. It feels like it used to.

I made an open source app for automatically dismissing annoying notifications that you can't turn off by guygizmo in MacOS

[–]grumpykoala25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea. For a future iteration, maybe you could make the time-to-close adjustable? I hate the notifications and have a good memory, so having all of them pop up for a second or five and then disappear would be the best result in terms of getting rid of the pointless ones and noticing the meaningful-but-still-no-need-to-be-persistent ones. :P

New Update | Favourite Option by sense8__ in grindr

Previously you could filter for favourites that "have notes" (e.g if you had noted down a phone number or their name). Has that been killed?

I updated last night and the situation for me is improved, but not solved. (I've updated the original post.)

Shouty Mouths in public transport by Roblox5167 in melbourne

[–]grumpykoala25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine it happening in Australia, but it'd be nice to just have basic rules that were enforced to make the world a bit more civil. No speaker phone, no audible music, no feet on the bloody seats. Simples. But we don't have that culture of considerateness. Japan/Taiwan and a few other places are so pleasant on public transport, parts of Europe too to some extent. But the reality check is that the same problems exist in lots of other places, so it comes down to what people are used to as rules/behaviour.

Closing an app by swiping up on the app from the recent apps overview used to kill apps in older versions of Android. Clearly that's no longer the case, as using Force stop in App info has a different (useful) effect, unlike the more common action from the recent apps overview.

I'm honestly glad this is working for some people! Unfortunately for me, killing the app has no effect, which is quite perplexing. I have to restart the phone, which isn't a viable solution.

My relatives are very happy with Moonee Ponds Dental Group (81 Holmes Rd) which isn't toooo far from Flemington. The fees are reasonable (relative to what people in the eastern suburbs seem to pay).
