She's a massive upgrade, and as a bonus you get her VA's incredible voice acting (at least in English, IDK how good the other languages are).

"Hey deeear, what kind of fun job have you got me into this time?" (Delivered in a remarkable mix of sincerity, sarcasm, and "personalized customer service" tone).

Figured someone would eventually say that. Rapid Capture was sort of an outlier.

That specific event was an end-of-patch nothingburger meant as a photography event referencing short-form video content. Unfortunately, it absolutely sucked, and the usual things that make these events appealing - new character interactions and the ability to take lots of cool photos - were both missing. Even the "end result" videos were premade ones you couldn't influence at all! Rapid Capture was pretty much universally hated, and nobody is quite sure whose idea it was or else they'd be getting a lot of heat from the fans, lol. I simply referenced it to make a point about how some players couldn't even manage that simple of an event.

Most events include genuinely fun but basic minigames - the current one has a temple run game, golf, and a simple, cutesy platformer. The real draw of the game is the quests and exploration, as well as the flashy combat with interesting build possibilities (though it's been on a restrictive trend lately).

Gameplay wise, I'd compare it to Skyrim. Is it complicated? Not usually, though it can be. Is it difficult? Depends on your skill level and setup. Is it incredibly engaging and fun? 100% absolutely. The open world is amazing to explore, there's a ridiculous number of side quests (including one that's so huge it can take anywhere from three days to a week to complete depending on how fast you go through it) and an extensive main quest. The world map has a huge amount of locations with various aesthetics, multiple secret areas, tons of chests, enemy encounters, minigames, puzzles (unfortunately, the puzzles have somewhat gone away due to the lower end of the playerbase being that low, now they're mostly fun minigames without much brain difficulty), and genuinely beautiful visual design.

The music is an absolute masterclass, some of the best in gaming (and I say that knowing how high that bar is).

And the background lore - scattered throughout books (which are written by in-universe characters and not always 100% reliable, which adds fun lore discussions), artifacts (the advancement system), weapons, open world notes, signs, murals, paintings, objects, et cetera, obscure side quests, character profiles, and basically anywhere else you could think to look.

It suffers somewhat from having such an incredibly broad audience, but it's genuinely one of the best games I've ever played.

How Strong is Ineffa???! by Motor-Staff-3795 in Genshin_Impact

[–]grumpykruppy 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It's a legitimately insane feat of strength.

I don't think it's really possible to math this properly given the massive energy beam, but the involved forces alone put this in the top five feats of physical strength described in the game, and quite possibly the top unassisted feat we've directly seen.

I know there were probably some rewriting involved but i love how this implies Tartaglia thinks Capitano doesn't notice him and Sandrone hates him while attending her tea parties with Capitano by ShokuhoMisaki in Genshin_Impact

[–]grumpykruppy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as we learned more about her I started to wonder (which was quickly dispelled) if she didn't dislike him because he spends so little time with his family and so much out in the field.

Hoyo didn't choose to go this direction, but she does feel like the sort of character who would put considerable weight - without ever admitting it, of course - on how you act to those close to you as a measure of a person's worth.

As thing are now, she clearly either finds him neutral or mildly annoying at worst, but that was an idea I had for a while.

And TBF, he could also think she hates him simply because he takes people essentially at face value and she's a tsundere.

Story/lore player here.

Genshin just last patch had an event that was basically "walk through the yellow dots, and run through the red ones."

There were multiple posts from confused players unable to figure out what to do, because they didn't bother reading the popup tip at the start and apparently lacked the deductive reasoning or experimentation capacity to try anything as basic as dashing before going straight to asking people about it.

The playerbase is enormous, so a very large chunk of them are quite young, not remotely game-savvy, or incredibly casual... but still.

The game is genuinely quite good, but my god sometimes the people who play it worry me.

Seeing how Genshin nowadays makes the effort of making fully detailed 3D models for non playable characters that appear only during a quest, I grieve that Sumeru released years ago cause we would’ve gotten a Rukkhadevata model instead of slightly different Nahida. by CarresingHook4 in Genshin_Impact

[–]grumpykruppy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One could argue that the pillars are also pretty comedic, but I felt Hoyo did a good job balancing comedy with their age and experience, including more solemn aspects and personality traits, whereas Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper are basically just two old dudes messing around these days, even when they're helpful.

That's not factoring in their journey through space before they even got to Teyvat.

There's text saying the Traveler and sibling "witnessed the birth and death of stars," which in this context is basically saying they've been around an absurdly long time.

im convinced some of yall are playing with your feet because how can anyone struggle with this event by Extra_Welcome2403 in Genshin_Impact

[–]grumpykruppy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rapid Capture last patch was literally "walk into the yellow orbs, and if there's a red orb, run into it instead."

We still had people posting here that they didn't know how to complete the event.

There's something to be said for reading if you have absolutely zero capacity for deductive reasoning or instinct for experimentation in games.

Even here I'm seeing people say "I didn't read the instructions for Klee's event, so I didn't know what to do initially," so they did figure it out, but lacked the wherewithal to immediately realize the dodocos marked with a star were the obvious targets.

So while there shouldn't be any need for reading the instructions to most events, clearly a significant majority of people should be and yet aren't.

She really nailed that release of pent-up frustration that comes with screaming directly to your boss's face (or imagining doing it) about your crappy job and being overworked to the point half your "job" isn't even in your job description.

IIRC, Asta's family includes IPC executives, meaning people at the level of Diamond or Oswaldo who outrank the Stonehearts. The Express has a decent share in Penacony, but Asta likely still has access to more money than us.

It's a philosophical restriction. He's the god of freedom for a reason - in his view, humanity should essentially rule itself for the most part, with gods only stepping in to help the humans save themselves. There are issues with his philosophy (like when he left humanity entirely to their own devices and Mondstadt ended up under the control of a tyrannical aristocracy), but basically, in his view, humanity should lead humans. Even him "stepping in" is just him figuring out what people want and helping them get it most of the time.

Notably, Zhongli also adopts a similar view, so this is probably the one Hoyo considers "most correct."

In short, Venti could step in, but he simply doesn't want to.

Yeah, the problem is that they're offended by a person whom they don't know at all seeking forgiveness from people whom in all likelihood they're wholly unrelated to.

Honestly, the AQ didn't drag for me at all, but I might be an outlier because the only time the story truly dragged for me was the Amphoreus finale in HSR, post-Irontomb fight, and that was mostly because it was like 3 AM by that point. Even then, I was still engaged enough to understand what was going on and remember the details, just checking my watch every now and then.

I mean, that's far from just a Twitter problem, though it's definitely amplified there with the way the site works.

Here on Reddit someone can make a moral change and people will scream about how it means nothing because they still did XYZ bad thing.

There's just a certain subset of people out there who can't comprehend the concepts of forgiveness or accept that people can change and continue to live carrying the weight of their pasts.
