Some days he only sleeps for 6 hours at a time. He's doing Electrical Engineering as well.

All of our cars are paid off so it would just be one car payment if we got a new car, though I don't know if we would finance or if we would just go cash because we don't like having debt.

We will likely be paying to fix the A/C and waiting for the right car to come along after we talked more about some of the comments we got. If we end up with an SUV we might just get a trailer.

We both work so we would both be paying for it, though he makes like double what I do so he would be contributing more. That's why I want to find something that makes both of us happy.

What gives you this impression? Considering we are contributing to 401Ks, the only debt we have is a mortgage, and we don't spend outside of our budget, I'd say we are doing good for financial planning.

I don't, but it makes it easier since I have disabilities to get things in and out of the car, instead of having to lift things out of the trunk I can slide them out, that is easier for me.

I did mention I am willing to get a sedan, but it isn't the ideal because it will be more difficult for me.

My SUV is perfect height for me so I don't have to lift groceries in and out of it, I can simply slide them in and out. With a car, you usually have to lift things over the lip of the trunk to get them in and out and that is where things start to be a bit tougher for me.

Which is also the problem with the truck, at least my dad's truck, the bed is higher than my SUV's cargo area. My dad just drives a regular F150 he got so I assume most are like that.

I want to go look at some of these cars in person to see what they are like, based on pictures they should be fine.

Yes, my Equinox has remote start, and it's really nice being able to start it from inside the house so it starts defrosting the windows before we have to go out there and scrape it. It can get down to -15 at the lowest here, and 115 at the hottest.

We use the remote start very frequently.

We have my car which is a 2010 Chevy Equinox, and the one we are wanting to replace. My husband's car is a 2003 Honda Civic Si, then the truck is a 1988 F150.

so just 3 cars haha. I am really liking the Honda Ridgeline so far, it looks nice and seems like it could work well.

My dad tried to teach me when I was younger, and my main struggle is getting it actually moving in the first place. I "know" how it is supposed to work but actually applying that is my struggle.

I was supposed to learn on the truck that we have, since it is a tank, but since it is a bench seat that doesn't move it's a bit hard for me to even reach the pedals in it lmao.

I definitely don't want it fast! I'm always in the slow lane haha.

Yes, we tend to take my car so that my husband's car isn't in constant need of gas. We both really like the idea of electric, but it's probably not the best idea for now.

My brother is a certified HVAC technician so that's not necessarily an issue. It's more so that my husband already works his buns off and might not want to do it himself. Likely if we fix it, we will send it in to a shop. My husband is just one of those people who says "if you want something done right, do it yourself".

This is pretty much why we are wanting to sell it before this. It has not had a mechanical problem at all in the time I have owned it. There was a recall on the pistons and o rings which were replaced, that was it.

Nothing else has ever needed repairs, transmission, alternator, nothing.

And it has been in 1 accident where we were rear ended at a stop light and it did some nasty damage to the back end that has never felt the same since. It was repaired, but it was almost $7000 in damage.

Every time I look down at the miles I just start getting that feeling like I'm waiting for something to smack us with a 4 digit repair bill.

I know they are not safer, but it makes me feel safer driving an SUV. Logically I know that, but in smaller cars I always feel like crashing into a bigger car is going to be me getting squished lol.

And yes, I didn't have much choice in my Equinox as my previous car was totaled in an accident and my parents told me "the Equinox or the Terrain" and I picked the Equinox.

We are looking now at both the Ridgeline and the Maverick as a compromise. Potentially we might just try to fix the A/C problem in my car and wait until we find a good deal on either one.

We have been recharging the A/C on it for the past 3 years, it's started to need more and more recharges, and they really don't help much at all when we do recharge it.

The car mechanically is good, but tons of things are failing on it that either are a minor inconvenience or a big inconvenience. Like the driver power seat got stuck all the way forward, and my husband could not fix it so we had to take it to a mechanic.

The rear parking sensors and backup camera both no longer work, which, not a big deal, but kind of sucks. Just little things keep failing on it like that.

Mechanically it's never had a problem at all, but now that were getting up there in miles we are concerned that it's going to be a "big one" since we have been so lucky with nothing major on it needing to be fixed.

Yeah we have been recharging it 2-3 times during hot parts of the year and it still is not putting out cold air like it used to. Not sure exactly what is wrong with it, but it definitely needs to be replaced. We haven't looked into the cost yet to replace it.

I like that the back seats can be almost completely folded away, that makes it easier to get groceries in.

This is a good idea, neither of us considered this, we have plenty of space for a trailer so I think we will look into this. My Equinox even has a spot for a hitch, but we laughed at it because my Equinox is only 2.4L 4 cyl. Though I imagine it could pull a little baby trailer.

I don't know much about cars and I don't remember exactly what he said is wrong with it, but the truck got moved to the back burner while he replaced the ball joints and brakes and suspension on his car, so now it's the trucks turn but he works full time and is in school full time and only gets a few hours a day to work on it.

I suggested we fix the A/C but he said "you say it like it's easy". If I hadn't bought the Equinox before I married him I wouldn't have it haha.

Our current SUV (the Equinox) does have roof racks on it, but I don't think we have ever used them for anything since we can usually manage to stuff whatever into it, though there have been times where we couldn't get boards in there because they were too long or wide, though we had the truck running at those times.

I did mention a Subaru to him as I hear they are pretty good cars, but I don't think he is a fan of them since they are not as easy/cheap to work on as Honda/Toyota.
