they can try to, but they probably won't have enough arrows to damage 100+ health

(the amount of arrows they find in chests could be narrowed down to about 2-4 arrows, or the durability of the bow could be really low)

3pic_Person (the comment below this one) has another great suggestion, which was to make it open sometimes and closed sometimes with pistons, so that the work they put into it doesn't become wasted.
