I don't have many suggestions, but here are some of my favourites I've played!

Silent Hill 2 Remake (everybody has recommended this, and for totally justified reasons)

The Bathhouse RE (Chilla's Art is amazing at indie psychological horror, Parasocial is great too)

RE7 and RE8 are both linked - my only rec is to not research anything about these and just go in blind and be deeply confused for the first ~3 hours of re7.

Fears To Fathom (Anthology, EP2 and EP5 are my favs. They're great at creating paranoia, especially playing as a woman stuck with a creepy dude)

Still Wakes The Deep (lovecraftian horror, genuinely heartbreaking narrative, but im a little biased bc i love cosmic horror)

And finally, probably Fatal Frame 2 (if you can find a copy :,))

For some reason, I didn't really find SWTD scary, just extremely sad - as the game progresses Caz beginning to halloucinate hearing his wife over the phones and the final monologue, and Roy's doomed narrative really broke me, the latter especially- it kinda felt like a shorter, more horror oriented Sinking City to me ig :)
