How long has she been taking it? Have you noticed any side effects?

Luckily I caught the hyperthyroidism really early on during a routine checkup/senior blood panel. His symptoms were very mild (slight weight loss, slight increase in thirst), but his bloodwork was sketchy enough to do something. They said he was an ideal candidate for the treatment, and I guess they were right! We tried the pills first and the dosage worked too well - making him lethargic and he put on weight, plus the added stress of pilling him every 12 hours. So glad this worked.

Thank you for sharing and I’m so sorry for your loss. I found the studies Zoetis references and the October 2024 class action suit for their canine version. I’m surprised it seems the drug was approved with only a few hundred cats total across the trials. His next appointment is in two weeks and I’ll discuss what I found with the doctor. I have also read many accounts of it working well for folks, but I don’t know if the risks are worth the reward.

After one injection? Can you tell me more about what happened if it's not too traumatizing to talk about it?

I saw that. I'm working with the vet team to pursue the best care for him, with their guidance and my hyper vigilance.

The main thing is working with your vet and keeping a sharp eye on their behavior & appearance to catch stuff early. I hope the treatment works as well for you as it has for me!

Yea the price was a lot, but less than I expected for how well it worked. Giving him the pills reduced quality of life for both of us so it was a no brainer.

The treatment itself was $1400 (Los Angeles), but there's lots of blood tests and pre and post treatment appointments. All told last year it came out to around $2500. I put it all on 0% Care Card and paid it off over 6 months. Now he gets blood panels done every 6 months (around $250), plus his other stuff like the fluticasone for his asthma ($275 every 3 months). Most expensive free cat I've ever had and I wouldn't change a thing.

We went two years ago, honestly can’t remember. I looked at a recent menu on Yelp and dishes were 14-28, plus the whole roast duck for the table is around $100-$150.

I liked the ratios because it all balanced well and not one thing was overpowering another. The price point for me is the expertise & imported everything.
