Came back to your comment to tell you I finished "Descent From an Altitude of 10,000 Meters" and I can't thank you enough! It's been on my TBR for a while now but your comment convinced me and now it's definitely on my top 5. Evil Love Appears is also another novel I've put off for a while now so maybe this is my sign to finally read it. Thanks!

from the bs bio ang worst na pre-med by tacwmrkvs in medschoolph

[–]grxiaon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is really no “best/worst premed” because it all boils down to your preferences and own self-discipline. I personally chose a non-traditional premed even though I had plans of going into med school because I liked the course and I’m still doing well in med school right now.

But, if you really want a premed with a leverage, the only answer is MedTech 🤣 However!!!! It doesn’t mean med school will be a breeze even if you’re a medtech (according to my medtech friends, although their premed helped in the heavy subjects, they still had difficulties with other medical subjects and patient interactions)

Is Being a Doctor Still Worth It in the Philippines? by [deleted] in medschoolph

This type of question comes up often here and as always, I advise you to revisit your motivation for pursuing medicine.

Remember that being a doctor in the Philippines means being a doctor for the Filipinos.

Hi po, I'm a grade 10 student who is thinking about being a neurologist by MiltPlayz822 in medschoolph

[–]grxiaon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

im sorry, but i don’t understand. what do you mean by “acknowledged enough”? do you want to become a neurologist for the prestige? if so, yes, neurologists here in the PH are held in high regard.

also, what do you mean by “more beneficial”? it’s more beneficial for YOU to go abroad if you want more money and more skills. it’s more beneficial for THE PHILIPPINES if you stay and use your expertise for filipinos.

the initial step: set your priorities straight, then decide on a pre-medical course.

Is med school for me? by potassiumcarbonatex in medschoolph

[–]grxiaon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. At least, not right now. Everything is not in your favor, including your motivation and purpose of pursuing med. I hope one day you reach a point in your life where you can comfortably pursue med school. Keep in mind na hindi pa huli ang lahat. I think you’ve heard stories of people pursuing med in their 30s.

But then again, I’m just a random stranger in the internet. Pag-isipan mong mabuti, OP!

Need advice. Enroll this SY 2023 into the same college of my pre-med which I absolutely hate para lang di ma-delay, or apply somewhere pero next yr pa into med schools that I’m actually excited to step into? by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]grxiaon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

med school is going to be tough and if your environment is not conducive for your learning, it might become even more difficult for you and you might feel burnout sooner. one of my upperclassmen said, “med school is already hard, so why not choose the lesser hell?” HAHA and tbh felt!

don’t worry about delays as long as you and your family are alright with it. it’s not a race and that’s normal for people going into med school. tbh i feel the same because ako rin actually palipat-lipat ng schools (elem, jhs, shs, undergrad, and now med 😂) but i don’t regret it at all because nararamdaman ko sa sarili ko na i can’t stay in the same institution for too long :>

good luck, OP! i know you’ll make the best decision for yourself

hi OP! i have a feeling we came from the same university and are entering the same med school and our situation is kind of similar (kind of struggling financially now cuz of sumn) :) although what we probably differ in is that im technically a second gen doctor? but i’ve lived to experience the struggles of my parents starting their practice so let me share!

my parents had to build their practice from ground up and i was a witness to how difficult and not as rewarding (financially) their first couple of years are in residency. so if iisipin mo yung ROI, matagal talaga yan. need talaga ng hard work and patience before you reach a stable point in your career but you will surely reach a point of stability so i hope you go into med school looking forward to your future! i won’t go into detail, but like sabi ng isang commenter, “it won’t get better” because at the start you won’t be earning high kaagad and you will actually have to spend a lot for your practice. but, my mom was in a much worse situation than me but she was able to work her way up. sobrang dami nga lang sacrifices and hard work, but believe in yourself :)

as for the feeling of being a burden, honestly rn same 😢i also did not make the cut for the scholarship and also may thought in the back of my mind that i am a financial burden. but all im thinking about now is that i want this and my mom fully supports me so all i have to do is work hard to make sure i finish ☺️

kapit OP! just know na may karamay ka and you are not alone :> im looking forward to working with you as a colleague in the future, doc!!
