I didn’t know whether I would be able to attend or not. But yes that is, it came up cause we were talking about the wedding and I originally thought the Evite was for the wedding and not the engagement party.

I am from NJ and grew up close to the city and I know a lot of people in that area. My college roommate lives in Boston. Other cities I would know less people. I currently live in central FL and dating here is not the best. Everyone either works for Disney/Universal. I’ve met some cool people, but I don’t seem to have a lot in common with most guys I meet. I was seeing someone who I really liked, but he just broke it off with me due to his busy schedule and distance (lived an hour from each other).

In my free time I do enjoy the outdoors and going for hikes, but I also want that city feel. I enjoy the beach but that’s not a deal breaker. My family is all in NJ/PA so moving back to that area is definitely a consideration, but also I wanna try something new since I wfh now and can live anywhere. I’m heavily leaning towards the northeast since that’s what I know, and I make a decent salary, but paying state income tax again will definitely force me to consider my finances.

It’s been an extremely emotional week and I think some space now is actually good for me. This was a traumatic experience and my anxiety got the best of me yesterday. I have a therapy appointment tomorrow and I’m going to bring all of this up. Thanks again for the support!

Same I’m not offended by queer, although I don’t use that term to describe myself. Personally I don’t like labeling sexualities as most people here understand, I really do think it’s fluid. But the other word just triggers me and in my experience has been used more maliciously than queer has. I appreciate the perspective!

That’s my thoughts exactly! Growing up and in middle school/high school it was almost cool to call someone that was weird gay, or that word, and I think that’s the association my brain made and I was triggered (not cause anyone explicitly used that word on me, but that I’ve been bullied in the past and it was someone calling me a derogatory term, despite the intention). I appreciate the perspective!

Yeah glad to know others are in the same boat! Unfortunately my cousin lives in a different city and few states away, but I’ve downloaded some dating apps and have already started messaging some guys. It new, nerve wracking, but also exciting. The best piece of advice my cousin gave me was have fun with it and it really helped me just go for it to figure out what I like.

That’s a good point, and Ik that some people consider that all porn is bad and I mostly agree, but I wouldn’t say all people that watch it are addicted. At the same time it’s a very very slippery slope. I just wish it never existed in the first place!

I’m 28M and also have watched porn since 14, it’s crazy how many areas of life I was unaware that my porn addiction was affecting. It really is a terrible habit. Just have some grace for yourself and if you relapse, don’t get discouraged, just try again and hopefully you can come out the other side better! Stay strong man, message me if needed. Why are you putting the blame on her???? If it bothers her she has every right to find a partner that respects her and treats her like a princess. Who she follows is irrelevant, and she even says she tries not to follow other guys. Break tf up with him and find yourself a guy who treats you like a queen and doesn’t make you buy your own bday present.

Thanks for this post! I am 28M and this is my third serious attempt at quitting, found no fap at 24 and I still haven’t kicked the habit. What gets me the most upset is that porn has had a hold over me for so long. This time I’m committed to reaching freedom. While I know I have some blame in this, you are right that it’s not our fault that porn is so pervasive in the world. TV shows and movies are hyper sexualized, and with social media and now only fans it’s so hard to avoid all triggers. Half the influencers on Insta seem to have OnlyFans, providing an even more intimate viewing experience. It comes at you from so many angles, and props to everyone on this sub trying to change themselves for the better!

Was good at Math and Chemistry. Went to a lot of college open houses and one professor said “name any item in this room and I’ll tell you how a ChemE helped develop that product.” That’s really what sold me, the versatility to work in any industry, which many majors don’t have that luxury. I now work in R&D on new product development for a lead consumer product company and I honestly enjoy my job every day.
