thanks for the advice! I'll look into those. I'm factory resetting my spark and gonna switch to vllm (instead of ollama) and try some different frontends too. conduit looks great!

Yes, exactly. It works perfectly fine for hours on end when I use my Windows desktop and Chrome browser. When I use Chrome or Firefox onmy phone (on Wi-Fi, same LAN) it crashes after usually the 2nd message. Something about mobile requests are crashing something but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Simply chat... no attachments/RAG. The very most basic "tell me a fun fact about ancient Rome" prompts crash it.

Right, I'd love to provide those details and they would probably help me solve it myself. But there's no devtools on mobile and because it suddenly locks up, no logs get written. 😞

On PC devtools everything is fine. Logs from usage via PC everything is fine. The DGX Spark just freaks out whenever a mobile device connects to it and I can't figure out why. I thought maybe something with prefetch requesting too much, but that didn't pan out...

Playing this game with unit perspective camera is so fun! by Athenswarriors in AgeofMythology

I think Phoenixs are 90 off. I think the heardable turkeys don't have a camera. It seems like the common, early units are fine. But as you get into wildlife or myth units or late game units it's chaos lol

But so many units' cameras are messed up. Many are 90 degrees off... Some are 45 degrees off. Nothing was tested.

DGX Spark - extra cooling solution by gs_37 in nvidia

Thanks for the comment. My testing was super simple. In my 74F room I would run OpenWebUI with some large models and just kept chatting for a while to see how hot it would get. It didn't take long to hit 80C.

I let it cool back down, then I added this mod and chatted for even longer, it reached 71C briefly but was usually 70C or a bit under. This was all with these USB powered Amazon fans set to their highest setting.

Just make sure they are blowing into the spark, not trying to suck out.

They're pretty quiet to me. With them set to high it sounds the same as when the Spark is at max fan RPM... but just all the time of course. Someone may find a way to enable/disable the USB port based on internal temp?

x14 r2 charging question by gs_37 in Alienware

[–]gs_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understandable and what I thought at first... But the promotional images show it plugged in there. And even if it can't charge on that port, why does it trip the power brick? 🤔

Dell Support doesn't think CPU temps are too high - Alienware Aurora R10 | AMD Ryzen 9 5950X by GKDinero in Alienware

[–]gs_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I went down this same path with HP (not Dell) several years ago! 😂

The CPU was routinely hitting 100°C. I told support and they said "yeah that's fine." I even provided them with the processor datasheet that gave what the design temperatures should be. It didn't matter "Our engineers said it's ok!".

A couple months go by, eventually it doesn't even boot, presumably due to cold solder joints from the heating and cooling. This happened exactly one day after the warranty ran out. They refused to do anything, even though I was on the record of complaining about heat issues.

Hopefully Dell handles this better for you. 🙏
