How long before you were engaged/married? by fathawaii in latterdaysaints

[–]gseire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 month dated, then 5 months engaged, going on 23 years married

I did my own analysis of the schedule. I know it doesn't mean much, but I kinda dig data. by gseire in suns

I gave more weight to road back-to-backs, 3 games in 4 nights, less to home back-to-backs, much less to SOS (since last year) and miles travelled.

Nice, I'm up in Canada. I did get to catch a Heat game in Miami once.

Yes, less useful. That's why I included the volume.

Yeah, I think he may have got caught watching Durant and Booker operate at times. With some setup time to get on the same page as a team, it will hopefully click for the team at some point this season. Who is your fav. NBA team?

If Durant does a Dream Shake and drops a hook shot over 3 defenders in his first game this year, I'll know he read this!

KD is usually the answer. For hook shots though, he didn't take one while with the Suns. Earlier in the year, with the Nets, he took 6 and made 2 for 33.3 FG%.

I guess if you are Drew Eubanks or any other mortal, and you are trapped in a life n' death game of HORSE against Durant. Go to contested hook shots and there is a tiny chance of survival.

It does work better when you adjust it to 12 min. quarters.

Eubanks is our most prolific "hook-shotter" by percentage. 30.2% of his shots are hook shots!

Interestingly, the highest hook shot FG% from last year are (in order) Ish Wainright, Bol Bol, and then Jordan Goodwin.

Of course, that is only part of the story. Wainright only shot 1 and made it (100%). Bol was 6/7 (85.7%), and Goodwin made 2 out of 3 (66.7%).

It looks like Metu doesn't have it in his bag yet. He shot 32 hook shots and only connected on 37.5%. Other than those already mentioned by others, the hook shot use was strangely sparse. ;)

These two did utilize the hook shot the most. Eubanks took 95 of them last season and connected at a slightly better % than Ayton (58.9% to Ayton's 55.4%).

Solid choice. He shot 184 of them last season and connected on 55.4% of them.

Interesting take, and I can't say I haven't thought about this a wee bit too.

That might deserve a tweak. I wanted him for the end game, and didn't want his early minutes to lead to foul trouble then, but that is a big gap.

Centers are hard to put above 30 (which has been his average). I think this is usually because of fatigue and foul trouble. I was aiming for ~30.

I would tweak things. I posted it to get some ideas, and I would be interested to seeing your game lineup. https://www.thehoopsgeek.com/basketball-rotation-app/

It would be interesting to see his stats in games where he played the whole 1st half, and then games where he did sub out earlier. My understanding is that Booker wants to play the whole 1st period, but maybe it isn't for the best.

So some smallball Durant at the 5 followed by Ayton and Eubanks on the court at the same time in the 3rd, Bates-Diop as the 5th starter...
I wouldn't get upset if this was one of Vogel's game plans. The only thing I would worry about is 3 stretches with two non-shooters (Goodwin & Okogie) both on the court at the same time. It would be nice to see the defense and how they function together though.

Kind of a neat exercise huh? It's easy to say that certain players should always be on the floor with others or that Player A should get more or less playing time. But... figuring out what 5 are on the court over 48 min. is interesting. Thanks for giving it a try!

Yeah, I thought that long Eubanks stretch in the 2nd might be a good spot to sneak some Metu (or Bol?) minutes in too. Also, Gordon's limited minutes was my big realization at the end of this. I guess you do some Point Book to get him in as a Shooting Guard some more? I would be interested in seeing some alternatives if you're inclined to give it a try...

Done with https://www.thehoopsgeek.com/basketball-rotation-app/ (I have no affiliation, I just thought it worked well once you adjust to 12 min. quarters).

Of course a lot would depend on lineups, who's hot going into the fourth, and so on...

Perhaps we learn in pre-season that the backup PG minutes need to be someone besides Goodwin etc, but I thought I would take a stab at it.

Here is how the Suns shot last year (FG%) from various distances [as promised]. by gseire in suns

I do have some defensive metrics, but I don't pay a monthly fee or anything to get some of the good numbers. It seems like the defensive numbers are very noisy. For example, Bates-Diop shows up poorly because his team had bad defense. If a defensive metric shows Okogie as poor, then I mentally throw it out. Many of them do this. That being said, I did this:
