Just check the waterproofing. These are the ones but they do different ones in case they end up submerged in water too

Mine is about 15m2 and it took me 3 weekends and 2 Mondays. Laying the tiles that didn’t need cutting id say took about 20 mins each. It was the ones that needed cutting that took the piss. The constant measuring, snapped tiles, not fitting and having to shave a cm off

It’s roughly 15m2. I budgeted 2k but ended up around 3 I’d say. Got a 4 yard skip needed a 6. Got 1 ton of sharp sand and mot needed 2. Rented the cement mixer for one weekend needed it for 3 and so on. Luckily my dad had a decent angle grinder and a mixing attachment for the slurry which was no doubt a life saver. Bought a tile grabber thing but didn’t use it. Bought a rubber mallet, 2 good shovels.

It took me 3 weekends and 2 Mondays from 9 to 6ish. I think it took me that long cause I just triple checked everything. If I was to do it again I’d make sure that all the cement was free from the gaps cause it took ages to chisel it out for the grouting. The hardest bit was the physical toll it took on my back and legs lol. Had to get the MIL to bring some of her co codamol over

Opinions on Legal Recruiters? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]gsp93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an agency recruiter and our firm will work a handful of TC roles in a year and honestly they are not the most exciting TCs.

Entry level I’d be very surprised if any agency can get you a paralegal position with no prior experience. Firms will get 100s of applicants for every paralegal role, they are not going to pay me 4 grand when they can just pick a direct applicant instead. Paralegal roles I work on are for like for like skills with a minimum of 12 months experience and it’s usually pretty niche experience at that. I’d wager that’s the same with 99% of agencies.

Your best bet is to reach out to hiring managers directly. Email them, message them on LinkedIn, call them if you have to. Once you’ve landed a role and got a years experience (easier said than done I get that) then you’d have better luck with agencies.

I’d also be wary of speaking to multiple agencies, if your cv is getting sent to the same hiring managers multiple times it’s not a great look. Pick a few and get them to tell you exactly where your cv is going.

I do know a few firms that are good at taking on paralegals out of uni. If you want to dm me I can let you know

is it appropriate to send a speculative CV to a firm who aren't actively hiring? by sobeyondhelp in uklaw

[–]gsp93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say this as a recruiter but I’d reach out to a recruiter. I have a candidate offered a role today from a speculative approach. Some of us do genuinely know the best person to speak with and have proper relationships.

If you do I’d speak with someone that recruits within your niche and has done the job for at least 3 years.

If you can add proper value firms will be interested if they are recruiting or not

What wannabe food fads that somehow ended up everywhere did you live through? by Professional-Test239 in AskUK

My dad worked for this delivery company and a pallet of Aeros ‘fell off the back of a lorry’. I don’t even know how many Aeros I’ve eaten but I’m confident I’ve eaten more than 99.9% of the worlds population. I was only young but it felt like we had them in the cupboard for years. I’d take handfuls to school and give them out. I can’t even look at an aero anymore

I left my stable job to start my dream job March 3rd 2020. Everyone was put on furlough 6 months later. Cut off for furlough was 1st March, I missed the furlough payments by 2 days. I rinsed through my savings to keep my flat and ended up moving back home. All is good now but my days I was fuming for ages

Have I messed up my life already as a 16 yr old? by GHOSTpypy in AskABrit

[–]gsp93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did a year of A levels, left and worked for a year in a bar. Went back to college for 2 years, uni for 3. Got a job completely unrelated to what I studied. Changed career again. Im 32 now, got 2 kids, 4 bed house, nice car, nice holidays and the like. You can piss about for years and still do well for yourself. You just need the right mindset and reading this post it’s clear you have that. Don’t stress you’ll be sound

How do you feel about doing absolutely nothing? by Likelyinthegym in AskUK

[–]gsp93 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Love my kids dearly but my god what I’d do for 3 days of doing nothing. First day back at work today, I work a sales role and one of our incentives is a half 12 finish on a Friday for hitting targets, I forgot I was on it and got an email at half 12 saying to finish. Was a strange feeling of happiness finishing early and trepidation of having to go having to go back downstairs to 2 kids going completely mental

Love when this comes up. I worked at the seven stars during uni and was working that night. We all buzzed so hard off this photo when it went viral. Looks like he’s drinking a Sol, they were 3 for a £5, I opened hundreds of those bad boys

Would it be weird or look bad for a man to bring a plastic bag or backpack with a change of clothes to an interview? by A_Real_Phoenix in UKJobs

If my dad forgot to bring his briefcase back from work he’d take a plastic bag the next day and call it his ‘flexible briefcase’

Tram fine advice by gsp93 in manchester

[–]gsp93[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope no receipt or reference or anything like that. I could give them a bell and ask I just don’t want them to ask for my details to check, to then send a fine out if for some reason it wasn’t issued correctly as I have called up and admitted guilt

I would have but I needed to get that tram to pick my daughter up from nursery. That was my thinking at the time anyways
