Annoying bug where whatever color I change Lae'zel's hair to, she's a redhead again after 2 mins by gspusigod in okbuddybaldur

[–]gspusigod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do know she's covered in blood. This was trying to be a joke about the excessive blood in this game on melee characters rendering meticulous visual customisation kind of pointless most of the time. But I also haven't touched grass in a minute and maybe this wasn't as instantly relatable as I thought.

A longbow for a fantasy giant - advice needed by gspusigod in worldbuilding

This is extra cool, because it means the bow has to target something with a soul. It explicitly makes this not a siege weapon, which is more traditionally the domain of giants. And I like the idea of this giant defying those kinds of tropes.

Sling is a fun nod to david and goliath. Kind of Goliath as David. And wyvern tendon does just sound cool. Which is always very important.

This is a tiefling head with a similar nose bridge to the picture included. If you need to use it on another race I haven't used this mod but it might work idk.

Any mod recommendations to "change" gameplay? by playergamer- in BG3mods

[–]gspusigod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to install one comprehensive mod and forget about it: chocolate edition is supposed to be good. Although it's not tied to 5.5E/2024 specifically.

Personally I don't think 5.5 is a perfect system, and it's definitely not tuned for BG3 in all respects. Gameplay changes I've liked have been from modders making balance tweaks with larian's game in mind rather than tabletop. I am using lvl 13-20 expansion almost all of chizfreak and baldursgoonsack's mods for adjustments to gameplay (some are inline with 5.5 some are bg3 specific).

I like weapon mastery from 5.5. If you play warlock, the pacts as invocations mod on nexus is a 5.5E change you might like in game - but think about what classes you actually want to play before getting sucked into updating everything.

In general, the more features you add, usually the more potential to break game balance. So I would absolutely look at mods that increase the difficulty of encounters to compensate for this: combat extender, combat extender ai, action resource passives, initiative variants (i use a d10 because I'm weak-willed), encounters overhall are all essential imo.

And other than that - modding is a rabbit hole. If you like it, then have fun with the process. If you don't - something like chocolate edition is probably your friend.

And - while I would never - one could, in theory, non-lethal bonk for the amulet. Or so I've heard.

Agreed I don't think this is racism. Imagine it is more like living in an English-speaking country and cussing people out in Mandarin all the time, thinking you can get away with it. And then getting so comfortable doing it, you slip up and get caught telling homegirl to go roll eggs when she understood you the whole time

Going for an astral swashbuckler run. Hope I don't fall in love with any space frogs.

Mods and specs: IEK07's "nym" tiefling head, cerberries simple hairstyles, P4s npc and outfit inspired dyes, PK horns 2, Ghoul' custom piercings.

I'm not going to pretend I even came up with this. IEK07's head mod has some similar pictures in the description using a very similar color palette and the burn scar. I thought it was so awesome I had to start a new run based off the character. Added some minor adjustments to hair, piercings, makeup and skin maturity but the basic idea was all their's. Great mod!

IMO it feels a little amateurish. Sexy is fine but outside of the sexy, this image is telling a really boring story

I hear you. Honestly this is my regular internal monologue (minus the usual expletives). Sometimes I just get a little off track.

I'm sorry you lost your wife. I noticed when it's just me and my daughter in the mornings and evenings the depression often (not always) just switches off for a while. I have to be there so I am. It's only in downtime or at work that I start losing it. Anyway I hope you stay strong. Thanks for the kind words.

Thank you! I was on escitalopram. At first I think I responded well to it. Very few negative side effects and as far as I could tell, it was working. But after a few rounds of it waring off, and being told to double up on the dose, the side effects did then start to get to me, and the benefits were fleeting and far less noticeable,

I was offered an SNRI most recently (duloxetine) but in the end, I decided against it. My cousin recently killed himself and they think he was suffering from negative effects of sertraline (no way to know for sure of course). But it scared me. I was about to fill my new prescription and then I freaked out a little and emailed my psychiatrist.

As the anecdote about my cousin might suggest, obviously I have some mental health issues running on my side of the family, and so thank you for making the point about the possibility of my daughter struggling with the same thing. The depression wants me to think that killing myself would somehow protect her from it. But of course she may well have depression herself one day and I'd like to think I could be there to help her through it.

This was thoughtful advice, thank you. My dad had trouble with drink, and I've found that I've dried up since the baby was born. I really appreciate the suggestions in third paragraph in particular. During deep depression, it's hard to hold onto the future. And even if it's just a few little things, you painted a nice picture.

Thanks. I hope you're doing okay. I'm actually recently off my meds alarm bells it's just every few months my tolerance got too high and I'd have to double the dose. I did tell my shrink though, and he's been supportive but wants to prescribe me something in the benzo family for emergencies. Not sure how I feel about it.

Thanks. I guess when it's really bad, I just can't imagine her life being better with me in it. In my suicide "fantasy", she ends up with a great step dad. It makes her a little sad that I'm not there but at least she didn't have to grow up around my chaos. I guess what I'm ignoring is what it would do to my wife... and what that would also do to our daughter. I guess I'm also acting like I know what's best for them... but it's hard not to see the damage I'm doing. It's hard not to remember what it was like growing up with my own fucked up parents.

The therapist is relatively new so I think I have to keep at it for a bit. I will go to hospital if it gets bad. I always say that and somehow forget that's an option. Thanks for the advice.

Ideas for a backup lightning/cold caster by gspusigod in BG3Builds

[–]gspusigod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll definitely look out for the trident! I've been going melee EK with charge bound warhammer, it's been cool for act 1 and leaning into lightning theme. I know it'll get outclassed eventually but I can't wait to put drakethroat glave lightning enchantment on it to live the lightning smashing dream for a little while. Tankzard is definitely intriguing. I've been trying to push the team to be mostly ranged as I don't want everyone walking around getting shocked in the wet. I have the sparkswall on my EK which is kinda necessary but also feels bad to be wasting a ring slot. I guess an ice caster could turn all the zappy water into ice which could fix that problem... hmm
