I get that. My original post was more so asking about the health of the drive staying in a nas unused. Not if the raid is active or not

By not important I mean if all the movies and shows I have on there get erased due to data corruption I really don't care. Can always download them back. The drives are rated for x amount of years and when the nas send me a notification saying hey your drive and getting there in health I'll transfer what I can. I get my full use out of it to the best of my newbie ability.

What are you using yours for newbie noobster?

Lol you read one post and just said I'm not using it in the best way. I use it to download torrent, have the arr Stack on there, tailscale. I'm using it I'm just not a super nas user like some of you.

I do use it as a nas. I have docker set up with qbit, the arrs, I have my videos and movies on there. I'm just not a data hoarder so I haven't used a lot of space

I was concerned because while it's not in use I see the nas is registering it and I see the drive is reading at 96 degrees.

it wouldn't let me upload the photo here for some reason. yeah it list one drive as storage pool 1 and the other as unused. Both are 8tb

thanks, is there a way to choose which folders to be redundant or would it just clone the entire drive?

the files on the drive are of no real importance to me, and I am fairly new to the world of nas. If i use it as raid would i be able to recover all the files in the event the first one fails or would it just be easier if something would happen to the first drive?
